Ohio Attorney General Confirms Records Are Missing

If you wonder why our current administration and the members of the Hospital Board got along so well with County officials here is a clue:

"Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost’s office confirmed Thursday that it has launched a criminal investigation into the missing documents after special prosecutor Matthew Meyer discovered on Wednesday that reference checks for the $25 million countywide IT overhaul project were missing from the county’s Microsoft Sharepoint computer system."

The Plain Dealer has done a lot of reporting on the decline of Cleveland and Cuyahoga County. They never mentioned corruption as a contributing factor. Perhaps they should.

The records documenting the disposition of Hospital asset are still not available. Checks were written, money was transferred and property plant and equipment was moved. Where did it go? I guess we will never know. The records are unavailable.

Mr. Call's Observations Are On Point

We know from the public interest litigation that the Mayor's documents related to his participation as a public official on the board of Lakewood Hospital Association went missing while various law suits were pending against the City.

We know from public documents that the Law Department pulled a neat-trick on Judge Carroll that sabotaged their "prosecution" of their favorite former public servant; a former public servant that went on continuing to harass residents and candidates for office.

This is a city administration on the wrong path.

Just a reminder to all, that the Law Department made an affirmative decision to violate the Ohio public records laws to prevent the disclosure of public records. It took two law firms to obtain three court orders that finally resulted in a partial release of records after three years of public interest litigation.

There is no official in the City of Lakewood whether elected or not who was prepared to seek the release of withheld records.
