Lakewood Band Headed To Hall Of Fame!

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

For decades I have spoken of something many had doubted, but many others had written about and bragged about. Lakewood's electric eels, from 1971 have been inducted into the Punk Rock Hall of Fame, not just for their band, but also for being the First Punk band, and starting the whole genre. That's right, love it or not, LAKEWOOD, Ohio much like New Orleans with Jazz, Seattle with Grunge, San Francisco with Acid Rock, LAKEWOOD gave birth to a whole genre of music.

Lakewood should really embrace this. We also luckily still have the Phantasy Club and Theater (Jimmy's Hyena Club) that was the home to many of the bands that came out of the area, and also home to many international acts. The electric eels are also recognized by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for having the first Punk record on vinyl, "Agitated."

Good work lads. Lakewood PARTY!
