The newly elected officials are going to inherit quite a mess. Right now it looks like Meghan George is the likely to be the next Mayor. I hope she is prepared to clean house.

1. Don't rest until George gets elected.
2. It depends on what she is in it for... her hometown, or some future higher office where she has to appease county powers.

CM

Huh?

We have one candidate, that helped to run Lakewood's largest employer and health care providers out of town, while keeping it secret and lying about it to residents. Then went on to work overtime to cover it up and mislead people in three elections including his.

And then we have a highly educated middle-aged woman that has dedicated herself to many things including politics in Lakewood. A woman that immediately went to work stopping public meetings from happening behind closed doors, and is willing to ask the tough questions to power.

You have a person selected by the ex-Mayor, who also selected the current Mayor, so that he could support the next Mayor so that he could continue the cover-ups of all of their failures and schemes. Really three Mayors, each consistently worse than the one that supported them? That's the best we can do?

And a woman that has said it was all rotten from the first time she read the LOI. And questioned it to this day. She said politics were going south in Lakewood and got involved. IT was not her destiny, her father was Mayor, which is why she chose a different path until she could not take it any longer. And ran for office, getting the largest vote count for a council person in a long long time.

We have an elected official that stood idly by while the city wasted hundreds of thousands of dollars on needless and ridiculous lawsuits, to support the banning of dogs and the fight to keep public documents hidden from the residents for over 3 years.

And we have a Councilwoman-At-Large who said this is such a waste of money, time and residents that cared.

One is dirty with the sins of their mentors, the other pure in heart, spirit and future for Lakewood.

And we have a ward coucil person who was so busy doing the mayor's bidding that he paid little attention to the ward he was elected to represent.

I get it. My point is that her place in Lakewood history will be dictated by whether she is in it for Lakewood and the people of Lakewood, or chooses to pursue a career in the larger party or county or state politics, and becomes consumed by the power and money gangs in NE Ohio. I'm optimistic. Like I said, don't rest until she gets elected.
