A couple people had called police that a person was having trouble driving over by Highland Ave. (W117) and Madison Ave. What was later discovered to be a 70-year-old man driving a silver van then hit a car on Lewis and Madison. Without stopping he proceeded west on Madison. Another couple that saw the accident called police and followed the silver van. Which turned north on Riverside Drive, accelerated away. Just before Crest Lane he slammed into a parked car knocking it 50 yards. The 70-year-old then slammed into a telephone pole.

"The parked car took off flying!" said the woman that had followed the car with her husband since the accident. "I have never seen anything like that ever." The car flew at least 20 yards in the air then rolled through two busy intersections.

A that time of day that those intersections normally are busy with joggers, kids, bikes and cars, and luckily no one else was hurt.

This is where the parked car ended. Looking back you can see just how big the debris field was.
Amazing only the van driver who claimed to be suffering from blood sugar issues was injured and taken to Fairview Hospital.
Good work Lakewood Police, Fire and Kufner Towing!
