The reason I mentioned this is in an article being prepared for the print version of the Lakewood Observer in which we look at how many times between January 15, 2015 and the end of 2017, we were constantly told by Mayor Summers, Finance Director Jenn Pae, Jay Foran (Active Living Task Force and now Three Arches), Pam Smith various groups, BuildLakewood and a host of others that WE MUST HURRY, WE MUST GRAB THIS OPPORTUNITY NOW! NO TIME TO THINK!!! HURRY HURRY HURRY!
From December 2014 through last week. Some of us have consistently reached out to Council President Sam O'Leary, Councilman John Litten, Tom Bullock, David Anderson with documents that PROVE the Mayor, Law Director, Finance Director and all supporters were not just wrong in their projects, but were generally lying to the residents about every aspect of the Hospital Debacle.
So while some of us spent thousands of dollars and hours looking through the documents, City Council at the time was either in the pocket of the developers and Mayor, or just too damn lazy to even read the documents sent to them. To this day Councilman Tom Bullock cannot tell you what was in the original contract, or in the new contract. Of course he can't tell you about the Charter and other things. Council President Sam O'Leary, even when presented with facts that the Mayor was running an election out of City Hall, with the help of thugs, smiled and joined forces. After all he was promised, Stay with us, and you will be the next Mayor.
So yesterday while I was thinking about the number of times Civic Leaders not just lied, but pushed, pushed, pushed us closer to the point of no return, the gutting of the hospital began.
So let's look at the Lakewood Hospital Emergency Room!

Why was there such a hurry to create yet another strip mall, albeit a multi-use strip mall in Lakewood? What was so goddamn important? Why were Lakewoodites not allowed to see the paperwork on "The Best Deal Ever For Lakewood" said Mayor Summers. "An amazing opportunity for all of us," he would say. For what? Another Cafe? Another Ice Cream Shop? Another Dry Cleaner.
No, we had to hurry, because if you stopped for a second, you would see what a terrible loss and even worse idea the "One-Lakewood Multi-Use Strip Mall" was from day one.
Think about it, now that you have time, and there is no going back.
