Once again Lakewood is tested by outside forces. This time three "youths" on bikes. How did we fair? Well Lakewood Police did their job. Cleveland Police did their job. The community tried to do their job BUT... After the first person was robbed, the local "neighborhood group" put out warnings on their neighborhood watch. Making sure they were safe and their neighborhood was on the lookout. Unfortunately the three youths had moved on to areas not covered by their watch. So the rest of the community went on about their business, unaware of the problem. Within 15 minutes of the first attack I was in communication with some of the people involved indirectly, and we put the message out through various methods and ways. Only to find out that a second attack a second robbery had just happened. Now there is no way of ever knowing if the victims would have ever read any of it. But it did occur to me that the City of Lakewood is getting more and more divided. That is a shame.
My thanks to everyone that has helped and worked on this latest edition of the Lakewood Observer. Please considering joining our efforts, and helping us build the narrative, retain some of the history, and amplify information, discussion and good deeds.
