Hubcap Tree

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

Bret Callentine called the other day to ask if I had seen the Hub Cap Tree on Andrews. "Jim, this is so unusual it deserves some sort of prize of at least some attention." so I drove over to Andrews and he is right. It's different.

How many brands can you name in this tree? I do think the Mercedes hub cap as the star is a nice touch.

What do you think?

my favorite display. Honestly. Sure, traditional stuff is good too, but creativity is king!

What's more traditional than red bows?

Very creative and unique!

This has been on display for several years. My better half grew up on Andrews so I'll check with him to see if knows exactly how many.

The hubcap tree is very impressive, however my favorite is the Marlin decked out in a Santa suit on the east side of Nicholson between Merl and Clifton. Now that is creative!

On a sadder note, witness the street-side advertising of the Sunday open house of the property on east side Gladys (just north of Detroit). For sale by owner. While no holiday tie-in exists, the multi-colored flag banner (remember car lots in the 60's) forms a triangle from the house, over the sidewalk, to the street. Please someone....make the owner take this down. Tacky.

Jay

I will have to check out the Marlin. Until then behold the beauty at night!

Please note the leg lamp from A Christmas Story in the window.

As for the guy on Gladys, that has to be against the law. Please dear God tell me that is not legal. Makes Matress Express look like a winner for the good neighbor award.

Hubcap tree? Oh yeah, I suppose it's nice. But you're missing the forrest for the trees. Isn't that a piece of art, a major award, an honest to God LEG LAMP in the window? Even though you'll get worms from the turkey (it has another hour to cook), fetch me my Red Ryder.....I could pluck off those hubcaps faster than nailing Black Bart!
