Time To Heal The City

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

Now that City Hall has gotten what they have lied, cheated and basically stole to get, and the courts never got to see what the City would never produce.

There is no reason to continue hiding it.

RELEASE ALL OF THE DOCUMENTS NOW.

You claim it was all legal, you claim the courts backed you up.

RELEASE ALL OF THE DOCUMENTS NOW.

There is no reason to continue your lying and hiding from the residents.

RELEASE ALL OF THE DOCUMENTS NOW.

You want to heal the City, you want us to move on.

RELEASE ALL OF THE DOCUMENTS NOW.

You can't though can you? No, you would still end up in jail, and the city will see you for the liars and con artists you are.

RELEASE ALL OF THE DOCUMENTS NOW.

Mr. Call, the Office of the Attorney General of Ohio has been a complete dead-end for citizen complaints on these kinds of issues. In fact, attorneys in that office appear to be one of the problems. Believe me, they know what has gone on here.

Rather than comply with the Ohio public records statutes, the City Law Department made an intentional decision to violate those statutes by denying records that Mr. Essi and his attorneys sought under those laws from the city.

It took more than a year and more than one court order to get the city to even conduct a meaningful partial records search.

Keep in mind, that the city is still fighting in court to keep records secret.

Mr. O'Bryan is correct:

RELEASE ALL THE REQUESTED RECORDS NOW!

Mark

City Hall has become filled with petulant children.

"We did everything legal." City Hall, though there have been numerous examples of the opposite.

"Ok let's see the paperwork," concerned intelligent residents

"NO!" City Hall having a temper tantrum.

"You have mislead the residents, the courts with proven false affidavits, improper redactions, and recently bogus paperwork" concerned residents.

"It was all honest and above board." City Hall digging in stamping their feet.

"Well then Mike, Kevin, Sam, Jenn, David, John, Tom, Dan it should be easy to produce the paperwork and put this all behind us." concerned residents.

"Noooooooo we don't have to. You have to trust us!!!!" City Hall and crew that lied about every aspect of this deal.

"Okay little City Hall, just produce the documents, and we can heal the city." concerned residents.

"Nooooooooo we don't have to" City Hall stamping their feet.

"Well actually you have to. You caused residents to see public documents and the courts have repeatedly said you have to produce what are clearly public documents." concerned resident and residents that are lawyers.

"No we refuse, just believe us we have nothing to hide." City Hall starting to cry.

"Besides our stonewalling on the truth, we just got out way!" City Hall bragging.

"OK we get it, now just produce the paperwork and we can move on." concerned residents.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" City Hall

What is City Hall hiding?

Jim,

I echo what Bill Call stated. Absent vigorous public pressure on the Ohio Attorney General or the Department of Justice, this is a done deal.

Sadly, we don’t have anyone on council who will do the obvious: write a letter asking for an Attorney Generals Audit. I’d like to be proven wrong.

It’s the right thing to do. It requires political courage.

The Third Amended Charter has this to say about all that:

"Article Eight, Ethics and Training, 8.1 Ethics,

8.1(a) Expectations of Government. The citizens of Lakewood rightfully expect their government of elected and appointed officials, and their employees to behave legally and ethically following principles of open government.

I predict that the next public interest cases against the City of Lakewood will be to see whether or not the City Charter is an enforceable document. So far, in my opinion Article Eight was dead upon adoption.
