Potential New Anchor For One Lakewood Place

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

Yesterday I posted a photo of the new anchor for the redevelopment called "One Lakewood Place," a store directly across the street from the development costing Lakewood residents tens of millions in actual dollars to help develop as no one would do it without millions and millions from Lakewood residents. Of course this entire debacle was dreamed up by a small handful of residents who have been desperate to prove themselves correct since the West End debacle. So the only way they could pull it off was to use our money, as again no one would do it with their own money, it is far too risky.

So after "Cash For Gold" plunked down their claim on a hot spot, I started to think what other current hot businesses and trends could be cashed in on for this community and make what has turned into more coffee shops and hair salons even more successful. As pointed out by many, the fastest growing industry in America is Healthcare, but as this group basically asked the Clinic to close our hospital for their private interests and gaining access to private funds they alone could control, that ship has sailed. Or has it?

Let me introduce you to an amazing thought, concept and potentially the life blood of this city.

Image
Plasma Alliance on West 25th St.

Now you laugh, and I thought it was a joke, until I went down there, and saw something that completely changed my mind and opened my eyes.

Image
To quote a council person, "WOW!"

That's right, $400 a month can be realized by bringing Plasma Alliance into "One Lakewood Place."

Now check this out!

$400 a month times 12 months is $4,800.00 a person. Multiply that times 51,000 (residents) and we are looking at a cool $244,000,000 benefit for the City of Lakewood!

The Lakewood City budget is $133,000,000 and the Lakewood City Public Schools are $77,000,000 that leaves us another $40,000,000 to play with! We could build another Solstice Steps, and still have $38,000,000 left. We could finally fix Foster Pool and have $36,000,000 left!

We could literally run the City and Schools on the blood of residents! Think about it. It would be like Kuwait, no taxes, just a trip to "One Lakewood Place" twice a month to give blood and pay your fee to City Hall.

They could send out flyers every election cycle about 100% employment, 51,000 jobs created, and massive surpluses in the budget!

Tell me you're not thinking, I think Jim is on to something here. I know you are.

But there is more!

Across the street was a small convenience store, that also served sandwiches.

Image
Much like any strip mall in Lakewood.

And on the wall, was...

Image

That's right, you can put your blood money into a debit card, and use it to buy food, cigarettes, beer, anything.

This would give the City of Lakewood a chance to run what would be basically a "Vampire Economy!" I put it in quotes because you read it here first, and I think it is our future.

We could be the only city in America running itself completely on the blood of its residents! We could set the tone for the rest of America.

This would give us 51,000 jobs, $244,000,000 dollars, a community currency you could buy anything you need with, and all it costs is blood. Something your body generates again and again and again non-stop. Like for FREE!

Image

Now to get to this level we would need to suck the blood out of every living person in Lakewood. But we instantly become players again in the medical industry!

Think about it.

You also get a cookie and a glass of orange juice every time you give. So that could be the special treat for all the people shown in the "One Lakewood Place" plaza drawings.

OK, there it is. Talk among yourselves.

The numbers you have put together, here, suggest a depth and mathematical rigor that surpasses the recent average, among analyses and plans that involve Lakewood's economy broadly.

Not so fast, I have found out there are downsides too.

I spoke with a couple people after posting this. One is a homeless guy mostly through drugs and alcohol abuse, and he frequents these centers and he told me.

1) You have to be over the age of 18. So all of those thinking we were going to suck little babies dry, can now relax. See* below.

2) You cannot have any blood disorder like hepatitis, aids, hemophilia. See* below.

3) You cannot have any sexually transmitted diseases. See* below.

4) You cannot be a drug user, abuser or addict. See* below.

5) You cannot have visited England or Ireland from 1974 - 1997 because of mad cow disease. See* below.

6) You can only give blood every three weeks. So you could go twice in a month, but the following month only once. See* below.

7) Most blood is only worth $25.00 not the $200.00 used to figure the $400.00 a month. See* below.

* THIS IS THE BELOW

As our Mayor, Law Director, Finance Director and others connected with this nightmare have at least a 8 year record of lying or misrepresentation the truth to residents, voters, the courts, financial examiners, the media and others, there is no reason to think they could not continue what they have become experts at, and take one for the team.

OK then $244,000,000 a year here we come! Bring on the babies!

GREAT NEWS FOR ONE LAKEWOOD PLACE!

Yesterday I drove to the Lorain/Elyria area driving past Midway Mall, which is all but empty, like so many malls, large and small inside and outside. But there was a shining light, in the midlle of a small side mall that had hundreds of cars around it, making me think. "There is hope for Mayor Summers, O'Leary, Bullock, O'Malley, Litten, Anderson, 's new multi use strip mall...

Image

That's right, CSL Plasma has mall clinics too! The company that couple literally help fund the City of Lakewood with the blood of the residents has plans and stores designed for malls!

This could play nicely with "One Lakewood Place's" only other semi confirmed tenant, "Three Arches Foundation." You know the foundation everyone on the board asked as all to contribute too, to keep Lakewood Hospital, then taking off with those funds.

Maybe we could get they to open a trailer store, so that we can get some of the blood of the small handful of temporary union workers that will build this underwhelming project. The good thing is, it only cost Lakewood residents $178 million dollars in assets, 4 acres of primes space in DowntowN Lakewood, and all of us leaving out brains at the arches, right next to where Mayor Summers, O'Leary, Bullock, O'Malley, Litten, Anderson left their morals, honesty, transparency and accountability.

And right next to a PetSmart too. Lots of room for expansion, as PetSmart's bankruptcy filing is presumed to be imminent. The Avenue store on the other side might be around a little longer than that, they filed in 2012 but managed to stay open, at least for now.
