Mayor Summers sent out a lovely little mailer in support of the slimy Martin Sweeney, known for his harassment of women, praising how he is “the right choice for residents!”

Really, Summers? How about for us women? You really think he’s our choice?

And what a backstab to Nickie Antonio, who serves as both a Lakewood council member and a state rep? You really think Sweeney’s the one who “can get things done for Lakewood?” In fact, I doubt Sweeney gives a rats a$$ about Lakewood.

Again, Summers is so like Trump - remember how he backed Ray Moore?

Does Summers really think Sweeney will represent us better than his former colleague, or is he following orders from the corrupt Cuyahoga Dem Machine?

The Old Boys are sticking together!
Summers, Sweeney, and Bullock...what a fine group.

Funny, I get NOTHING from Bullock, Sweeney and friends in my cozy little Ward 4 home where I live with "those people". Just sayin'

Could it be that you've already voted? I've found that the spigot is turned off as soon as I do.

I have yet to plow through the pile of mail we've accumulated while on vacation. Did Summers send out an endorsement from his desk as mayor? Is that kosher? I didn't think you were allowed to campaign while working in your capacity as an elected official, that those activities need to walled off from your sworn duty.

One can see why Summers would endorse Bullock as he is running against a former opponent but endorsing Sweeney definitively shows Summers doesn't care about Lakewood at all. Even people who feel Nickie let them down on the hospital issue can't bring themselves to openly support the likes of Martin Sweeney. Perhaps this move will finally enlighten many to Summers' true colors.

Oops! I misspoke. I AM one of "those people"! Old, no money, no power or influence. No Bullock political mailings this time or his last run for council at large.

Truly hoping voters everywhere see beyond the Summers endorsement of both Bullock and Sweeney.

Birds of a feather... Summers, Fitzgerald, Bullock, Sweeney etc...

A better future depends on Skindell, Antonio and Kucinich winning their respective races. I am seeing some apathy right now in my conversations with local residents. Let's hope that changes immediately.

It's a tri-fold with the letter on one side and the address info on one of the folds. The letter doesn't mention his position, but the mailing is from "Ohio Democratic Party" in Columbus, and says very clearly: "Mayor Mike Summers, City of Lakewood" "From the desk of Mayor Mike Summers..."

“SLEAZY” Sweeney

Read a scathing knock-down of Sweeney and his sleazy campaign tactics against Antonio:

And remember, the good old boy was endorsed by our own Mayor Strumpers.

The Mayor and members of Council are allowed to back candidates, and while using their official titles and appear in mailings. It is not a violation of election law.

They cannot use City meters, computers, city time, etc. to do so.

It would appear that the Mayor has learned to stop running campaigns out of City Hall, to stop hiring election workers as unqualified staff members.

However it is fascinating how they group. A Mayor that sold out the City;s largest asset in secret deals lasting nearly a decade, and continue to lie and hide things from the residents and voters of Lakewood being sought for an endorsement.

What's next? Elected officials with DUIs backing candidates? We see General Flynn being paid to stump for candidates, a man that has already admitted guilt of lying to Feds and working with anti-American agents.

Stay tuned this story only gets worse.

Mayor Summers is running for the Cuyahoga County Democratic Central Committee in Ward 3, Precinct A (where he lives). I wrote an article that appeared in the recent issue of the Lakewood Observer explaining what the Central Committee is in case you haven't heard of it before. Thanks, LO, by the way. My point is that a really active Democrat and volunteer of the Lakewood community is also running for the 3A seat. Her name is Jeanne Mackay. Please vote for Jeanne Mackay if you live in 3A!

I helped Jeanne Mackay get some signatures, because of a paperwork problem with some she got on her own, and I am so glad to have helped her in any way.

Jeanne is a wonderful person, and a true community activist.

In January 2017, an uprising of constituents gathered downtown for a word with Senator Rob Portman's office; I was there and so was Jeanne.

Image
I'm beneath the hat; Jeanne is next to me.

A few months later, when many people had vented and things were relatively quiet, I felt nonetheless like going back again; three Lakewood residents joined me and Jeanne was among them.

Image
Credit also to Bonnie Sikes & Trudy Hutchinson; I am the only person in this photo who is not running for central committee!

Last November, this same group joined others from Northeast Ohio in what was, at the time, the Pruitt EPA's only scheduled hearing on its proposal to repeal the Clean Power Plan, held in West Virginia. A long day-trip but all of us were proud to have spoken up on the record.

Jeanne is informed and engaged on the local level too. I have run into her at Heritage Advisory Board meetings, she has volunteered with LakewoodAlive (and been honored for it), and with the Historical Society.

A 2015 Observer article that Jeanne wrote about LHS and the Curtis Block concludes, "this place matters!" I have complete confidence that Jeanne sees precinct 3A the same way.

Voting Jeanne Mackay for County Central Committee, Lakewood 3A, will recognize a genuine think-global, act-local, neighborhood public servant.

I don't recall there ever being this much interest in the party committee positions and I know Matt had a lot to do with it.
