LPD Employee Stayed on Job While Charged Despite Rape Indictment

Post by Michael Deneen »

Some disturbing news is surfacing about a Lakewood Police employee who stayed on the job after being Indicted for rape and kidnapping.
How could the department not be aware of this?
Or is this another example of City Hall hiding covering up potentially negative news?

I'm shocked that this indictment wasn't a big story in "Lakewood Life".

So they either had NO idea the guy was indicted OR they knew and did nothing about it.

Either scenario is quite disturbing.

Mike

When the Mayor knowingly hires convicted felons to work on his campaign from City Hall and harass residents and people that disagree, this is just more of the same.

When the law director instructs the Prosecutor not to prosecute known felons caught breaking the same laws they were convicted of by Lakewood Police. When Lakewood Police build a case with the help of the Feds, but because the suspect(s) worked on the Mayor's campaign and he helped cover-up their background when City Hall hired them, and the prosecutor looks the other way, just more of the same.

Mayor Summers' City Hall is a criminal enterprise, and it is all bullshit and cover-ups again, and again, and again.

As a federal agent told us, when City Hall stops prosecution after prosecution, the police realize their hands are tied.

Don't blame the police, they are working their asses off, and are thwarted when trying to do the right thing.

Blame their boss, "Boss Tweed" Summers.

Remember this guy?

Seems like Lakewood has difficulty with hiring procedures. Maybe like not doing background checks, or hiring unqualified people, or hiring friends of friends.

According to the court docket, the crime(s) was committed in January of 2017. Although the date it was reported to police is not on the docket, there had to have been an investigation by the police to result in the Nov 2017 indictment.

I find it almost impossible that his employer, a neighboring police department, was not contacted, or at least tipped off regarding this investigation.

Also, there have been files submitted under seal for in-camera inspection from the Cuyahoga County Department if Children and Family Services that are apparently relevant to the case. That is concerning.

Kevin Butlers public statement says that the man underwent an “extensive background check.” We all know how cursory their “background checks” are in other employee hires, so I question how thorough his investigation was. This seems to be a continual problem for the city.

Hmmm. I often wonder how many hours a day should be devoted to making sure nothing is going on in an employees personal life by a city entity. I think the Police Chief deserves the benefit of the doubt here.

Those were people that were working on Mayor Summers campaign both before and after being hired. Also while they were using City equipment illegally, there is not indication at this point that the dispatcher was working on Tom Bullock's campaign. Though they have covered up arrest of people working on his campaign. Of course they are no longer at City Hall.

And with the case you are speaking of they knew he was a convicted felon, hired him, he lied on his application and they gave him a second one.

It is possible the Dispatcher never mentioned who he was working for.
