Browns 0-16 Parade Photos Posted
The much anticipated "Perfect Season Parade" will take place this Saturday at noon outside First Energy Stadium.
I'm planning to attend, and hope to get photos for the Observer.
Anyone else planning to be there?
Yes, I realize it will be INCREDIBLY cold.
Despite the weather, I still think it will get a big crowd and lots of national media attention.

As well as being INCREDIBLY cold it is INCREDIBLY disrespectful to a team that may be INCREDIBLY bad but is my team and I love em.

My guess is that the parade will be nothing more than another reason for people to get shitfaced.

First of all ... I LOVE FOOTBALL (I played grades 6 through 12.)jkocinski wrote:As well as being INCREDIBLY cold it is INCREDIBLY disrespectful to a team that may be INCREDIBLY bad but is my team and I love em.
But I’ll be damned if I give a flip about (let alone “respect”) a bunch of VERY well paid athletes who are blessed with incredible god-given talent.
I’ll take a HS game over pro ball any day.

It will show an INCREDIBLE amount of team loyalty. Tell me about any other city where this might happen. The cold will ensure that the event gets plenty of media visibility.jkocinski wrote:As well as being INCREDIBLY cold it is INCREDIBLY disrespectful to a team that may be INCREDIBLY bad but is my team and I love em.
It is the team that has been disrespectful to the fans, and they should be happy the people are still out there for them.

Re: Browns 0-16 Parade
I look forward to attending.
My thoughts, for what they are worth, is that this is delightful. It is, or should be, basically just harmless, fun, gentle humor:
0-16, a "perfect record." At all events a notable accomplishment. So have a parade. March in a "0" around the stadium. Build floats. Select a parade queen.
As far as I'm concerned, that's the appeal. It's just taking a situation that is absurdly negative, but at the same time essentially harmless (it's only a game), and choosing to laugh about the absurdity rather than stew over the negative.
I have not seen any indication that it was intended as a put-down. Recently, the concept has emerged that it is a "message of protest" from fans to an ownership that seems to take them for granted; I don't think that should be the point, but ultimately, no big deal. The parade can mean to people what they want it to mean.
