It has been a long a crazy week for both Lakewood Fire and Police. Speaking with one of the Firemen at the scene of the accidents, he brought much of it too light as he mentioned the man that jumped over the cliff in Rocky River, whose body they searched for most of the night was a firefighter that had been forced to step down, but whose father was legendary on the Westside with Firefighters. The kind of guy that had everyone at his funeral, so it hit home.
The bridge jumper, that lived and called on his phone for help, the shooting in the park, the chase, the accidents the assaults, along with upswing once again in opioid trouble and domestic issues, gave both Fire and Police a long, busy and very strange and troubling week.
Funny one bitter ex-Lakewoodite was crowing about the car jacking until another reminded him, he was caught here immediately by our police. Actually it was the work of Lakewood, Cleveland, Rocky River, and Metro Rangers, but Lakewood spearheaded the chase and capture.
We are indeed lucky to have the Fire and Police force that we do.
