Lakewood Observer Upcoming Special Editions

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

We have been working behind the scenes to create a couple special online, and possibly in print editions. Something I have wanted to do for sometime, now with less and less to do with this project, I have had the time.

First is a pdf of all 312 Editions. Making it easy to look over the past years. It was amazing while working on this to see not just the amazing photography and art over the years but also, see very much the history of Lakewood, as told by those involved. It makes for a fascinating read.

Another pdf, possibly in print book of all of the art and cartoons over the year. While we all know of the cutting edge humor of Rob Masek with his "Lakewoodites" series, many of us forget some of the other cartoonists including Gary Dumm, illustrator for Harvey Pekar, and many other legends. Mark Toneoff's dark humor, and the funny items from Julia Cindric.

And one last one, of the amazing photos of Lakewood over the years with some of Lakewood's finest photographers. For years I have wanted to produce many of the images shared on glossy paper, to bring the amazing quality forward.

Living here, we forget some of the most amazing images, places, events and things that are here and have happened here.

Books are being sent out for bid, and if affordable, and interest is high enough they will be put on the market with ALL PROCEEDS going to Lakewood's Charities.

Stay tuned.

.

Given the impact that the Observer project has had over the last decade I think these will be fun this year and collectibles in the next several decades
