"Leadership is not about the next election, it is about the next generation." Simone Sintek

Yesterday, we embraced another generation, a younger generation at City Hall in City Council, that is a good thing for so many reasons. Thank you to all that ran, congratulations to the winners, a tip of the hat to all those that ran but did not win.

But my love, and big hug go to everyone on the Observer volunteer staff that worked into the wee hours of the morning making sure we got it right, and got the paper out today and on time. This is a volunteer operation, but issue after issue, year after year they perform as well as any group of professionals. Hitting deadlines, and getting the news, views, opinions and ads out to everyone. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I wrote a little piece after the election I hope you all take the time to read, it is not in the paper, that space was used for others, but posted here on the Deck, it is about finally starting to heal the huge divide, and move this city back into the warmth of sunshine, and back into the inclusive, loving, educated, art and fun loving community that we all fell in love with.

Much like the OJ Simpson verdict, some people too mad, some people too happy.

Thank you to all that voted, and to all that helped run the campaigns, the polling places and the party spots after the election.

Party on!

As someone else who stayed up, first waiting for the results and then working into the wee hours once they finally arrived…

I definitely appreciate the Observer team's dedication!
