This is the best political news I've seen in a long time. Big congrats to Meghan and Tristan.

Thank you Lakewood voters!
Let the mayor and council see this election for what it is -
a MANDATE!
We are tired of your shenanigans, your arrogance, your haughty disregard for your constituents.
Take a look at how far ahead George and Rader were - THOUSANDS of votes ahead of Bullock, who barely placed in the top 3 despite his incumbency.
Current council members should take heed. The same old, same old has got to go.
It's a changing of the guard - out with the old, in with the young! About time.
Congrats to Megan George and Tristan Rader.

Will there be a recount for third place?
Only 38 votes separate Bullock and Marx.

It's a bit funny the way another sort-of Lakewood online publication reported the results. It was the bottom of the third (and last) paragraph before the victories of Meghan and Tristan were mentioned. Let's see if they patch in a new lede before morning.

Multiple people I spoke with tonight said that a recount for the third at-large seat will take place. So, we may still have to see how that finishes.
But I do want to congratulate Meghan George for a phenomenal first-place total. I saw a great effort from her campaign, particularly at the polls today, and it's also fair to say that years of effort proceeded this campaign this year.
It is a distinct honor that Lakewood awarded the next-most votes to Tristan Rader, and that I had the privilege of being involved in his campaign.
Thank you to so many people who believed in us.

Matt
Thank you for your hard work on this campaign. It was great seeing a positive campaigns score so well.
Also there are still provisional votes to count, so Marx Bullock race is still very much up in the air.
I for one would find it fascinating to go back to the days of two women on council.
I agree with Bridget, this is a mandate for change at City Hall.

Thank you to so many people who believed in us.
I saw Amy & Dean Dilzell, Bonnie & Bob Sikes, Kate McCarthy & so many others out there on the streets. You are all my heroes.
This is the greatest news in such a long time! What a difference all of you have made.

Keep in mind that these candidates went on record opposing BSL, lack of transparency, and dissatisfaction with the giveaway of the hospital and the loss of jobs.
Get a clue, council. All of your jobs are on the line.

Re: Election Results - George, Rader, Bullock, Charter Passes
The banjo rings today!
A well-deserved congratulations to Meghan and Tristan! (and to all who tried)
(Mr. Kuhns, thanks for sending me that personal note. I listened to you.
)
..and just a note of my own here to the other apparent winner, Tom Bullock...
Congratulations to you too, Tom.
It looks as if your journey on Lakewood Council may continue. Look, I remember your early days here and how you often posted here on the 'Deck, how you complimented Jim, and how you took the time to thank me for writing that article about Captain Anderson. You were so positive, supportive, and encouraging to so many other people too, and in my heart of hearts, I genuinely felt that you held so much promise in government.
Perhaps you still do. The Bible tells us however that there is none good, and that all (including ourselves) have fallen short. I KNOW that I have. I search my soul daily to figure out what I could be doing better in my own life, and for others. For the benefit of us all, I would urge you to do the same.
These are difficult times. Recharge your batteries. Re-engage. Re-emerge. So much depends on what each of us do, when we try to help make a better world.
Back to the banjo...

Re: Election Results - George, Rader, Bullock, Charter Passes
Thank you, Gary.
At some point earlier this year, someone shared an anecdote about JFK… after losing a race early in his career, JFK supposedly was speaking with an old family friend who mentioned that she had not voted for him. Stunned, JFK asked why not. She replied "you never asked for my vote." It may only be a legend, but I feel like many of us on the Rader campaign kept the lesson in mind throughout the campaign, right up until 7:30 last night.
(Almost as much as the Issue 61 campaign, which was everywhere all day yesterday. Great work by them.)

It is noteworthy that State Sen Michael Skindell endorsed Megan George and Tristan Rader.
