Fire On Edgewater Reminds Us, Check Your Chimney!

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

This evening Lakewood Fire Department was called to a home just east of Lakewood Park on Edgewater Dr. for what was determined to be a chimney fire.

Which should remind all of us to:
1) Check our chimney for soot build up.
2) Check that the flue works and is open before starting a fire.
3) Check the cords and plugs for all space heaters. Unplug when not in use.
4) Check our furnaces for new filters, and making sure there is nothing stacked too close. ESPECIALLY FLAMMABLES!
5) Make sure your smoke and fire detector is working and the battery is good.
6) Clean the lint from your lint trap on clothes dryer.

Great work Lakewood Fire and Police.
