Lakewood's sports podcast

Post by mjkuhns »

I don't think this has been shared anywhere here, so far… And I feel like we should have some kind of note in this forum that Observer correspondent Mike Deneen has launched a sports podcast. (It's free.)

I'm not sure where the podcast is going in future, but so far 216 Sports Fun has featured Chuck Greanoff, and Tom Hannan as guests in the first two episodes. So, certainly Lakewood-related content.

I think this is pretty neat, and I hope people check it out.

Thanks for the mention, Matt.
The project is still very much under construction, so we're trying a "soft launch" approach. Hopefully we'll find our groove within the next couple months.

I want to make a couple points clear:

*The podcast is not part of the Observer Project. If you have any complaints, don't bother Jim with them.
*Our goal is to cover stories around the NEO, not just Lakewood. However, during our early stages, we will be very Lakewood-centric. Naturally, we'll always have a home town bias.
*I will continue to cover sports stories for the Observer....you'll still see plenty of stories at this website and in the paper.

Cool, hopefully I didn't announce anything prematurely.

Obviously I do not represent the podcast in any official capacity.

Mike is very active on Twitter, as well. Lots of local sports news, great for Lakewoodites to follow.

Mike's up to almost 1660 followers!

And speaking of Twitter, here's a tip for all of you who "follow" accounts that merely "retweet" lots of stuff you aren't interested in. Did you know you can turn off retweets?

You might be surprised at what is left without all the unoriginal content.

https://twirpz.wordpress.com/2015/09/01 ... -retweets/
It wouldn’t be so bad if all Twitter users retweeted for the right reasons. But many simply don’t. Some people retweet to ingratiate themselves to others or gain attention. Some retweet for self-promotion (when someone compliments them, for instance). Some retweet for reasons of social compliance, etiquette or friendship. Some retweet to keep their accounts active when they can’t be bothered to tweet anything themselves. Some retweet for money.

You're welcome!
