They Grow Up So Fast - Then Get So Lost

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

When I first had the pleasure of meeting Sam O'Leary, he was a young democrat, claimed to be a progressive at Lakewood High School. When I talked with him again at the beginning of his council run and career, he had shown so much promise. "I'll never be like Tom Bullock" Today he is Tom's and Mayor Summers' "Mini Me."

Show me the money!

From a recent invite sent out, it would seem that Young phenom Sam O'Leary is catching on to county politics ala DiMora/FitzGerald/Buddish Style!

In this off election year, for him and for only...

...$50.00, $100 or $250

At a reception to support
Lakewood City Council President
Sam O'Leary

SHOW ME THE MONEY, MONEY, SAY IT WITH ME ONE TIME

NOW WITH FEELING!

Well I guess we know who is the bag man for Summer's council-at-large incumbents that played along will be.

what happened to your usual spot, Mahall's? Diana's?

I guess it makes it easier to get all of that outside money outside of Lakewood,

Lakewood, we are still being played.

Just say no, to council incumbents this year. Let's empty half the swamp.

Now we have a real problem with Sam O'Leary

Lakewood wake up.

I got this email, too.....because I am one of the many people that Sam "The Sham" conned into donating to his 2015 campaign.
He pretended to be against the hospital closure.....until Mike Summers bought his loyalty.

I have a message for Sam, who I know is reading this:
Please return my donation.

Labeling him "lost" is way too kind for this scoundrel---his deliberately gave false testimony under oath that cost the City $100M and resulted in a needless referendum and divided the City--his deliberate actions in direct violation of several oaths he has taken will result in hardship for thousands of people for longer than Sam "The Sham" lives on this Earth. His bad acts are ongoing---he now has evidence of intent to obstruct justice by one of his colleagues and he is supporting ongoing concealment of public records likely showing worse.

I met with Sam "The Sham", Anderson and Marx (with others present) 3 times in 2015.

The third of these meeting was in November, 2015, shortly after the election--apparently after he took money from Summers and Sutter O'Connell Law firm (the firm that represented Summers in the taxpayer lawsuit).

At that post election meeting The Sham proclaimed:

1. "Council can't act separately from the Administration"---which foreshadowed his ongoing deliberate violations of his oath.
2. That the City could not then take a legal position to enforce the 1996 Lease because its lawyers (Sutter O"Connell) had already taken the opposite position---I recall thinking this guy is a completely feeble idiot and a crook.

As each small puddle of the public records drips out from City Hall, the body of water (evidence) against Sam The Sham shows that he has never been "lost" at sea---he is and has been a "Player" playing Lakewood residents for fools.

Agreed. O'Leary is just the latest in the line of ambitious young Lakewood pols that think they will quickly "climb" the ladder to higher office.
He thinks that cuddling up to Summers and Budish is the way to advance his career.

Ironically, he completely fails to see what is happening among progressives in his own age group. They vehemently reject the Democratic Establishment, which has been purchased outright by Republicans like Mike Summers and Dan Gilbert.

Seeing all these incumbents' names listed alongside Budish, I assume that they are all in agreement on the County giveaway of $200+ million to Dan Gilbert.
If any of them would like to correct me by voicing their opposition to the Q Deal (we know that you are reading this), then they should feel free to do so here.

They give away tax money to millionaires and give away a community asset to a corporate hospital system making billions per year.

It's no wonder people become apathetic. It's the same old, same old with politicians.

Mike is right, though, Trump was a reaction and it's just the beginning. Dems better face the music.

I won't assume. But I am proud to be among those who have clearly spoken and worked to protect county resources from this raid, and I'm proud to be supporting a candidate in Lakewood who is on record doing the same.

At the risk of thread drift, The Nation recently published a scathing judgment of this deal: "It is an act of corporate welfare, where public money magically becomes private profit for Dan Gilbert. It is crooked Trumponomics, the people’s funds flowing up to one of Trump’s most slavish billionaire backers." (Even Crain's, a very different publication which sees nothing wrong in private interests seeking such a deal, acknowledged that it isn't really in the public's interest to agree. That seems like a pretty remarkable instance of accord.)

You left out the Stark skyscrapper deal pending downtown Cleve--TIF financing and Lakewood's Ftiz-Carnegie Group--TIF financing.

There are purely "good ole boy" Democrat deals--hard to tell the Ds and Rs--all have the same $tripe$ by my eye$,

We all knew that there had to be a reason why this alleged crook was promoted right to the top of the Council.

Look at all the alleged criminals that are endorsing him!

People of Lakewood, please try to expand your knowledge and read all, including past posts regarding this large and, more than likely, extremely illegal business dealings bought with your tax dollars, compliments of Summers and Friends and your alleged crooked council members.

I recall remembering in the County Corruption Scandal that Demora was fixing the Cuyahoga County Court cases. Sound familiar?

I would just say to stay tuned. As more and more documents are turned over and more and more evidence of wrong doing appears, I believe our fearless leaders are going to find themselves in one hell of a mess! They appear to be so scared, that, now, many of them are trying to sell their homes privately. Perhaps to hide their participation or knowledge of all the alleged criminal activities done against us by the Summer's Mafia Gang?

I believe, in the end that some may go to jail and some may lose their law licenses. Mr. Summers, I believe, that sooner or later, Armond and the involved judges will turn on you. If they don't, what did it cost you for their loyalty? Did you pay them off with OUR tax dollars?

One of the first major decisions by Council under Sam O'Leary's leadership - helped along in no small part by Law Director Kevin Butler's purposeful foot dragging - was putting the vote on the hospital referendum off from March to November. To me, this was a far more ruinous decision than that of destroying the hospital in the name of "progress." It pitted neighbor against neighbor for the better part of a year, and caused undue stress on some of those heavily involved in the issue. On top of that, it's my view that the vote wouldn't have turned out that much different in March than in November.

In terms of our civic well being, that particular decision was pure evil.

It's one of many decisions incumbents need to held accountable for in future elections.

Nothing like the Kinks before hitting the road.

Turn volume to 11, then dance around your desk like you are a Lakewood Coun cil Person at a fundraiser way way outside of Lakewood for your Council seat!

Based upon how little he let the hospital go for, I would say that Sam The Sham sells his votes for a bargain.
