If you have been convicted of harassing people, using racial and anti-sematic, misogynistic slurs against public officials and citizens in this and other communities:
You get a sweet job with Lakewood City Hall that you are unqualified for, including political and "other work" until you are caught by the Lakewood police intimidating Lakewood residents who disagree with the Mayor.
AND THIS UNIQUE ADDED BONUS!
You can get the public personal records of your victims and other enemies of the Mayor filled by the Law Director IMMEDIATELY, not years like Brian Essi, Matt Markling, not days or like myself NEVER.
City Hall must be thinking "excuse me courts, and law abiding residents we have a common interest with this respected member of BuildLakewood and bam right to the font of the line." Just kidding they rarely think.
City Hall, as I sad two years ago, you have lost your moral compass.
What is City Hall hiding?

I will continue to make a point that I have made previously in other posts:
The City of Lakewood continues to engage in practices that create considerable legal risks for both the City and its public officials. Ultimately, the cost of these risks are borne by the residents/citizens/voters/taxpayers.
In the attached legal presentation, you will see that the City may be liable for emotional distress damages (and other damages) caused by public employees acting in their individual capacity.
Each person harassed by any public employee has a potential case under the federal civil rights laws.
To the extent that subsequent events of harassment take place and have been knowing facilitated by current public employees, I see a continuing risk of a Section 1983 civil rights claim against the City.
If you have been harassed, you need to consult with legal counsel immediately, since there is a relatively short statute of limitations.
Are you telling me that the city gave a person with a known proclivity for harassment public documents relating to private individual residents of this city? And without delay or question?

Actually expedited them, apologized for any delay, and ask if they wanted anything else.

Remarkable.
Does that not appear to be aiding and abetting harassment of residents?
Any idea of how many names were sought in the public records requests?
This sounds like a continuing attempt to harass and intimidate selected citizens to discourage their exercise of their constitutionally-protected civil rights.
A reminder that the Mayor is scheduled to be in a public forum Thursday night at the Dem Club meeting. Will he take unfriendly questions? There's only one way to find out.

My fear that here and in the nation ignoring normal lawful standards has no consequence. A law director can arbitrarily decide when and to whom records are released and people (including our elected officials) will buy the spin that some requests are too broad and records are not organized that way and on and on. A wall has been erected between the people and government in Lakewood which only will be breached by a wholesale change in governance. And I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Spot on.
However, I remain optimistic. We have three young people running for council that want to make changes. Imagine if all three were elected!
We desperately need new leadership with fresh ideas, clear thinking, and less reliance on an old and corrupt political establishment that has run the entire county into the ground.

If one were to look at the records requests, and the time of delivery, one might easily come to the conclusion, the records were waiting for the request to appear.
City Hall caught in a massive web of lies and misdeeds are pulling out all stops to cover-up and kill the Observer.
After all we are the only ones that are publishing FACTS with documents. City Hall - NOPE, PD-NOPE, Sun Papers - NOPE, Scene - Yes and Eric Sandy has been harassed, Citizen - NEVER, Community Page, DELETED IF BROUGHT UP.
I feel, just like on the meetings for a "media plan" the plan was intimidate everyone talking, and sue the Observer for telling the truth.
This is just a common sense question: If Chris Christi goes under Federal Investigation for moving 24 orange cones, what would they have done if he had sold it and given the money to his friends?
So if the Mayor liquidates the publicly owned hospital, and all the money ends up in private groups...?
City Hall ordering "hits" on law abiding people that simple disagree.
I suppose this makes BuildLakewood and their members the secret police or as Nixon would call them "ratfuckers" for City Hall and the Mayor's campaign.
RATFUCKING = Ratfucking is an American slang term for political sabotage or dirty tricks. It was first brought to public attention by Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein in their book All the President's Men. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ratfucking
