Appropriate for today, or any day for that matter:
This is the song that skyrocketed just after 9/11. It's hard to listen to, and not feel something. This posting has the lyrics on it too.

There are more than a few from Lakewood, as you'll see.

This veteran would like to remind Mr. Lee Greenwood that women also died while serving. What an obscenely mysogonistic lyric: "and I won't forget the men who died ..."
"So, let's make the most of this beautiful day.
Since we're together we might as well say:
Would you be mine? Could you be mine?
Won't you be my neighbor?"

Re: Memorial Day - More than just another holiday
The services at Grace Presbyterian yesterday were dedicated to our veterans, men and women. That was the church's 50th anniversary of doing their veteran remembrances. A very meaningful talk was given by a combat veteran, and a friend and I had the opportunity to provide appropriate pipe and drum music. (me on the drum)
Visited the grave of my parents today. (Dad was a WW2 vet) Went to breakfast with a Vietnam vet. Remembered a friend on my old street who died in Vietnam, and another Lakewood man who was listed as MIA in Vietnam .
Thank you for your service, all veterans who read this. Memorial Day may be for our fallen, but for you vets who are living to read this? You are in our hearts as well.
Just a reminder that anyone can join a number of groups that honor and assist veterans in many ways. There is also a meaningful remembrance at Lakewood Park for our veterans on Veterans Day in November.

I'm a vet. People have been thanking me for my service. While I appreciate it, I reply "thanks, but thank the 400,000 men AND women buried in Arlington.

Good Evening Mark,
So very glad that you post these reminders on veteran recognition occasions,
Dad thought the world of you. He sure appreciated your trumpet talents. He always enjoyed your calls and kind words.
Mom loved you and your wife. You are blessed to have her.
Best to you and yours always, and thank you for your service!
Back to the banjo!
