1. To accomplish change, there must be accountability.
2. To instill accountability, there must be good leadership.
3. Without good leadership, there can be no accountability or change.
Meg Ostrowski wrote:
Good men make mistakes, great men make things right.
It’s time for good people to step up, become great leaders and begin the healing process.
"We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. Each of us should please his neighbor for his good, to build him up." Romans 15:1-2
The "leaders", i.e. the "strong" bear responsibility for the weak.
As I think Ms. Ostrowski points out, if the strong do not step up to build up the weak, the divide will continue.
So I ask:
Is the lack of leadership to blame for an ongoing divided Lakewood?
There is leadership.....unfortunately, it only serves a small portion of the Lakewood population.
It is heavily white, upper income, and has easy access to health care via good insurance and reliable transportation. It lives in a world of wine, microbrews, and soccer clubs. It is privileged enough to have the time to serve on "nonprofit boards". It doesn't have to worry about things like money, because it has enough.
As for everyone else in Lakewood? Just a bunch of disgruntled losers.
They should shut up and get in line......and stop "hating" on the "successful people".
Again, this is all very similar to the Trump situation at the national level.
I believe that there is a divide in this city. I do not believe that race, economics, or federal government have anything to do with it. I can understand why, in the beginning, some persons would want to believe Summer's and Council's lies and side with them. Now that the truth is starting to come out, it becomes more of a moral issue. I do think that there are some that will side with Mr. Summers, no matter what.
By now, the majority of us know that the plan to steal and demolish the hospital, to make room for our city official's friends to develop the land, was planned out well before the charades began.
I remember Mr. Bullock having a meltdown about all the money that the Save Lakewood Hospital lawsuit was costing the city. How about all the studies, speakers, mailings, etc., that we, the tax payers paid for? Didn't we also pay for the Oonelakewood.com site that Summers and council used to push the lies about the hospital? Didn't we also pay for the Summer's campaign to use Onelakewood.com to tell more lies to rally folks to vote for the mayor? All of this when they knew darn well what they were going to do from the start.
This is not only immoral, but, I believe it may also be illegal. These people had the nerve to lie to us, and at the same time, use our tax dollars to do it. I feel they should all be in jail! Maybe in time, we will get our wish. It appears, almost on a daily basis, someone else is abandoning the U.S.S. Summers. I believe they know that they better get the heck out. Why? They must know that perhaps some laws have been broken.
Shame on you Mr. Summers, and shame on you Council Members, you stood up in front of all the citizens of Lakewood and lied, with no remorse. I believe you cared more about what YOU gained from this immoral deal than you did the citizens of Lakewood! What a class act. NOT!!!!
