The Lakewood Board of Education at its May 15 meeting approved Denice Leddy, current Alliance City Schools’ Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment, as the next principal of Emerson Elementary School. Leddy will replace Brian Siftar, who will move to Lakewood High School as associate principal next school year.
Previously, Leddy served as Coordinator of Assessment and Accountability for Cleveland Heights-University Heights. Her school building level experience includes having served as an elementary principal in Cleveland Heights and in Kent.
Leddy said she is looking forward to returning to the building level and using what she has learned to support teachers and students. She told the Board she was “impressed by the level of engagement both in the community and Emerson in particular.”
Leddy comes to the District on high recommendations that include describing her as “a star,” “total team player” and “the whole package.” Leddy begins her employment with the District on Aug. 1, 2017.
