City Website Contains False and Misleading Info Re: "Responses" to Hospital Records Requests

Post by Brian Essi »

Type in the search "public records on Lakewood Hospital" on OneLakewood.com and you will find that our City Officials are boasting about:
"Transparency in Government"

http://www.onelakewood.com/all-lakewood ... -requests/

Th website claims: "This table reflects the more than 400 separate records requests the city of Lakewood has received
since January 2015 related to healthcare in Lakewood or Lakewood Hospital."

That could be a true statement, but the website and table contains much false and misleading information.

Many of the dates and other information contained under the heading "Date of Response" in the table are both false and misleading.

Among the accurate in formation contained in the table is that fact that it took Records Custodian Butler 169 days to "respond" to 70 requests I made. The 70 requests were issued on September 20, 2016 and the "responses" were on March 8, 2017. But the web link and the table leaves out that fact that all 70 of those requests were denied...after I waited 169 day for that "response."

Also, the city provided no documents in response to at least 185 of my requests.

Transparency in Government?

Transparently Bad Government.

But use of the website for misinformation is commonplace in Lakewood:

If "transparency" is something people want, our City government will happily parrot the word. When they had a big party for the new building that we are building for the Clinic, Toby Cosgrove stood in front of all of the guests and the TV cameras and lied. He said that Lakewood Hospital was losing money. By Ken Saber's own admission at a Council of the Whole meeting, the hospital was not losing money. A transparent lie.

Complying with records request? Sure they're doing that. That's why the courts told them to hand over the records.

“One of they key problems today is that politics is such a disgrace. Good people don’t go into government.”- 45
