Trump > Chicago >What?
Chicago, I went there, it was the weekend of the RNC convention in downtown Cleveland. So great that was, I'm so happy I was a small part of it, Mr. Wolff Blister was in town, from CNN, I spoke to him, he was very nice, I took pictures. September, October? I can't remember, I'm old, about 7pm, just perfect weather.
Here is the crazy part,
I took a Grey Hound Bus, at midnight to Chicago, what? I got to the bus station about 9:00 pm, I thought I was on the Jerry Springer Show, this is the real reality show. We boarded at 12 midnight, grab a seat, here we go. I haven't been on a Grey Hound bus since 1973, things have changed in 35 years.
We arrived in downtown Chicago around 8 am the next day,
here's more reality, to top it off, no concessions were open, no coffee, juice, toast, nothing. A dirty bathroom, I was hesitant about using it, unbelievable people.
I thought, this is Chicago? OMG, It was more run down than Cleveland ever saw in it's worst days. We have it all over Chicago, TRUST ME.
I spent 24 hours there, I couldn't wait to get home, like Dorothy, there's no place like home.
So sad, so bad, Chicago has nothing on us, were better. Chicago is so bad in fact, that the President of the United States has threatened to send in the military, troupers, the Nation Guard, to restore peace? Really? 60 shooting since Jan. 1, and you don't like Donald Trump? seriously? What would you prefer he do? Let it ride? I'm on the Trump Train.. woo woo
Thank you Mr. President.

Re: Trump > Chicago >What?
I’ve been pulling together a post on “positive feedback loops” that I will publish someday. Suffice it to say that a positive feedback loop is very often catastrophic.
To better understand what is happening in Illinois, and Chicago in particular, read “Illinois Is a Failed State” by clicking here (coincidentally it’s from observer.com).
The combination of high taxes, especially property taxes, and decades of corrupt government has set a positive feedback loop in motion in Chicago. Positive feedback loops amplify changes that are already underway. Some people call them vicious cycles.
There are lessons to be learned by the Chicago experience. I’m fearful that the same combination of high property taxes and unfocused (at best) leadership could set the same vicious cycle in motion here in Lakewood. Higher income people in particular stop moving in, average income and property values start to decline, necessitating higher taxes, causing more people to live elsewhere, and the cycle is well underway. And almost impossible to reverse. Lakewood has the added complication of its attraction to families with modest income seeking "free" public schooling.
Illinois raised property taxes something like 80% a few years ago. But believe it or not that only caught them up with Lakewood, percentage-wise. Other Illinois taxes are still higher, at least for now. Local governments in particular have to always remember: people can (and do) vote with their feet….

About a year ago I took the Megabus to Chicago. No bus stations at all but the buses were clean and the price was right.

Gee Amy, I didn't say anything about Mr. Trump fixing the Grey Hound bus station, Clorox would help that, my post referred to the rampant gun violence in Chicago. The whole bus experience was simply a vehicle leading to & from the real problem, the gun violence in Chicago. But thanks for your reply.

I took the Grey Hound bus because of the convenience, not because of the cost, $20, $30 bucks either way, that's not an issue, Grey Hound left and arrived when it suited me best, but I will tell you, the Grey Hound Bus was the filthiest ride I ever had, and I will never take that ride again, even if I were writing a book of the experience, I'm not getting on that bus again. I'd rather hitch hike, god knows who will pick me up and what will happen to me. I'm sure I'd be robbed of my jewels, cash and virginity.

Re: Trump > Chicago >What?
Grey Hound;, I remember commercials of pretty young petite ladies with pill box hats on, waving their hands, inviting you on board, WHAT HAPPENED? I guess that advertisement enticed a lot of folks to try it out. too many. I sat right behind the drivers seat, there was a stainless steel rail in front of me, there was a bug running across the rail, I was going to smash it, as I looked closer, it was a roach, I cringed, and thought, god let me die now, thank god I didn't bring them home with me. The bus driver agreed, when she pulled up to the station, the least the crew could have done was wipe the bus done with Lysol, they did not.

Mr. Jackie, I don't like you, and I don't read your post, if I see a post with your name on it, I pass it right by, I ignore everything you have to say, and I never, ever respond to any of your post, but I must say, you do have an interesting point of view, worthy of reading, not that I read them, although, I used to read them, but not anymore. Your comments about the Grey Hound Bus Station, and Mr. Trump, the city of Lakewood and it's historical building, fixing up properties and asking higher rent, the trash put out early in Lakewood, the toilets, soiled mattresses, broken dressers, chairs, are you kidding me? You should be banned from the forum.

Lakewood take note: I'm starting a petition against Jackie Taylor's post, he/she should be banned from posting here any more, he/she has nothing to add to the LO, and should be banned, tarred and feathered and burned on the steps of the Lakewood Library on Saturday night, next year during the "light up Lakewood" event. I'll bring the steaks & the marshmallows.

Re: Trump > Chicago >What?
thanks Dan, I will look into the "mega bus" thing, I'm not familiar with it, sounds like it would be a great vacation, safe & clean, care free, that would be a fun ride somewhere, but not Chicago, every time I've ever been to Chicago, I've had bad luck, once my van was towed while clubbing, . that was a nightmare.
Somebody came into my back yard today, and stole 2 tiers, I had them sitting there against the fence, with rims, one was the spare for my old MGB, the other one, I didn't care about, I'll call the scrape yards Monday to see if anyone brought them in. I need someone who can install cameras and video doorbells, any body have any leads?
