James, I think I can answer this even though I'm not in touch with that part of the LO operation. I think it will bump down and out of sight next week when the new issue comes out.

Mr. Fitzgibbons,

I think I understand your concern.

The "love" of money is the root of evil. Money itself is just a tool and a means to an end.

As for the picture of "Me and Mike", please note that I instigated it, not the mayor.

In the past 30 years+ of pursuing my brand of justice and resolutions of problems, I have made several enemies, but for the most part I have been able to remain civil and come to terms with most in resolving matters.

If it gives you any comfort, I can say that when I arrived at the Women's Pavilion shortly after 6:30 am on election day, I immediately approached Mayor Summers and extended my hand and said "good luck today Mike." To be sure, Mayor Summers was taken aback and uncomfortable with my gesture of good will--he was at a loss for words, but that was not my goal. Rather, I believe it was the right and civil thing to do.

Toward the end of our respective poll shifts, Mayor Summers made a gesture of polite small talk about the sun making it warmer for us--Always the dogmatic "workhorse" trying to have a dialog and be productive, I took that opportunity to briefly discuss my ideas if 64 failed--that again made him uncomfortable, but that was not my goal.

As for the picture, it was the brainchild of a very respected Lakewood citizen who had just voted and saw "Me and Mike" there "together"--he suggested the picture. Again, if it makes you feel better, Mayor Summers was not entirely comfortable with me imposing upon him for the photo.

I am a true believer that we cannot overcome our differences without a dialog. I am always open to dialog and reasonable compromise of differences.

The problem for Lakewood in the past two+ years and now is that Mayor Summers and City Hall have not wanted a dialog and have never compromised on anything of the hospital issue. They just don't want to listen.

That's saddens me, but I am not in the least bit bitter. That's all about them, not me.

Who do you think looks genuinely happier in the photo?

Do you think my smile would be any less happy if the photo was taken this week instead of last?

Where is Mr. Rice and the banjo--can he play a few bars of this?

Brian, Thank You! You are truly a very smart and good person. You are surely the happy one. I will learn from it.
