1. Van Jones is great.
2. CNN and Jeff Zucker can go to h*ll.
3. With the GOP in control of all three branches, those bast*rds will gleefully F-up the judiciary for the next 30 years, and probably the economy soon enough.

But hey, they have their low-voter-turnout mandate of 50.01% or whatever it is.

So, this is probably drifting away from Lakewood and toward Global, but I want to add a note or two here in the interest of fairness.

My own views are a bit complicated, fwiw. The incoming presidency seems almost uniformly bad news, to me, but I also think that some of the reaction from the left is as much partisan as principled; whatever the next administration does, the current one has hardly been friendly toward whistleblowers, e.g. Yet for most of the left, the degree of concern has been very asymmetric.

That said, whether everything is in peril or whether it will all be okay, it is not only the left that predicts peril. The Economist has described the president elect as "a dangerous man" and said that Silicon Valley "rightly worries." I don't regard The Economist as particularly liberal, at least in the contemporary American political-left sense.

The Economist is part of the British media.

The Democrat and Republican parties are dangerous---look at the national debt and trade deficits. Look at the defense spending. They can't trim the spending by 2%? What a mess!!!!

Both Fake Parties have failed us. The proof is we have a pig as president-elect.

Nothing I can fundamentally argue with, there.

Hard to say that either this or that major political party is safe, in that no one need check anything going on within it. Obviously—bringing things back to Lakewood—there are now few engaged Democrats who don't suspect that another faction of the local party is dangerous or potentially so.

I think this probably scales up. Not to mention that the large and growing number of independents presumably reflects some wariness, & I would not insist to anyone that it's entirely unfounded.

Be proactive, pay attention even if things look fine: I think that's a useful lesson of our own community affairs.

Todd, please don't put everything in one basket, I'M NOT against helping our less fortunate citizens, those ENTITLED to our assistance, I JUST DONT WANT TO GIVE ILLEGALS OR CRIMINALS FREE ACCESS. THAT'S IT. Get a visa, a green card, a SS No, a permit, a license what ever it takes to be compliant, then you deserve our assistance. Gee Wiz, why do you only hear half of what I said?

But Jackie here's what you get with Trump: Pence, a vehemently anti-gay ideologue, and it looks like he's going to have a lot of influence on the new administration. I'd go so far as to call him an American/extremist-Christian ayatollah. Trump is a narcissist who spouted all that anti-immigrant stuff to appeal to his rally mobs. Whether he follows through on what he says - I doubt. Pence is another matter. He has a long track record of implementing his vitriol, and destroying his state's economy.

I appreciate your thoughts and opinions, shows me another view, ( imagine if his grandson turns out to be gay) I can only hope they have a change of heart and see the light, and support all Americans, which ever race, religion, gender, all of us and brings unity to the United States. I've seen what the last 8 years have been like, I can imagine what the next 4 would have been like, with the same agenda with Hillary, let's see if a new leader can lead us any better, lets give him a chance, 1 year, then we'll sum up the results, who knows, I may well change my mind.

Personally, I'll give them a chance, yes, but I've put them on a very, very short leash. They are likely to reach the end of it long before the inauguration.

It is a great time to be a Republican in Lakewood! While Trump wasn't my top choice it sure seems like he is going to surround himself with great people and will get things done that benefit both sides of the isle. If he does what he says he will bring us together much more than even Obama promised to do and then failed.

6,251 people in Lakewood supported Trump, and to them I say congratulations. It should be a wild ride over the next couple years.

But he always lies. What good people ? Lobbyists, KKK, his children. Most of the GOP Trump haters lost their backbone.

Unfortunately it seems like most politicians lie, even here locally.

Ken Blackwell, Keith Kellogg, Ed Meese, Mike Rogers, David Malpass, Marsh Blackburn, Devin Nunes to name a few.

Most GOP folks realized how disastrous a Clinton presidency would be and voted for the better of the two choices.

Ryan Salo sounds just like my late father. He voted Republican, no matter who the candidate. We used to kid him that if Charles Manson ran as a Republican that he would vote for him and he'd agree. So, you - the father of daughters - voted for a man who would like to "Grab them by the Pussy" and treats women as sex objects. A man who cheated on every wife and married the mistress afterwards. A man who marginalizes women and minorities.

You must be so PROUD to be a Republican.

Shame on you. I feel sorry for your daughters. You are telling them that his behavior is acceptable. That a man can stick his hands up their skirts and touch them without permission. The whole scenario is just sick, and this is the man that you boast of voting for.
