4 Precincts, 712 Votes, Bye-bye Health Care

Post by Marguerite Harkness »

FOUR PRECINCTS - a mere 702 people - voted away the health care for 52,000 residents of Lakewood. PLUS another 50,000 who live in 44102, 44111, 44116, 44126 who did not have the opportunity to vote.

Which precincts? Want to guess? Four precincts along the lake - from Clifton Park through the Gold Coast - voted away our hospital, forever our largest employer, our health care, and our economy.

The 4 precincts, total votes 2,976 or about 15% of the total vote; voted 1,794 FOR and 1,082 AGAINST Issue 64. That's the 712 difference.

The rest of the votes were 50/50 on 22,366 votes.

AND - 2,925 people didn't vote on Issue 64, didn't know for sure how to vote to save their hospital and their health care rights.

That's 4 precincts out of 37.

The tail is wagging the dog.
