The BIGGEST lie of all
Amongst the many half-truths and out-right lies that have been thrown around concerning how great the hospital deal is, this one lie, marketed by the city, always got me. Why can't people see through it?
The cost to Lakewood's citizens is HUGE! Over $100 million in public property gone, given away. How can anyone say that is "no cost to taxpayers"? Really??
I'm sure the League of Women Voters just printed what was given to them...scroll to the bottom.

Mr. Karslake,
Some taxpayers will pay from their bank accounts.
Some taxpayers will pay with their lives.
The people who concocted the lies and promoted them will face the ultimate judgment regardless of the election results.

Re: The BIGGEST lie of all
I have heard many stories of delayed treatment and additional cost due to the changes at Lakewood Hospital. I regularly witness EMS leaving town and recently became aware of people waiting for EMS to arrive from out of town. There is no doubt the changes are impacting people's lives and it is reasonable to expect that we will lose some due to these changes. For many, until it hits closer to home, they will not understand the reason for the fight AGAINST 64.
However, the likely change that will hit residents first is a tax increase to cover the loss of Lakewood’s largest employer. And then most will not get the connection.

League of Women's Voters? Really? The same seemingly pro-Summers group that would not allow recordings at last years Candidate's Night at City Hall?
I believe that this group is full of political hacks. I would think that they would have gotten their facts straight before posting their politically motivated ad. No cost to tax payers? The lost revenue from the loss of the hospital has to be made up somehow. It will be made up by an increase in city taxes, compliments of Summers and Extended Company!
Don't forget either that the Lakewood City Schools will be coming after all of us tax payers in 2017 for more money for the schools. I believe this is due to the fact that we have more of Summers and Extended Company running the schools that obviously don't know how to budget money nor how to draw up contracts. Perhaps the School Board should be investigated next in regards to the finances.
Lakewood needs a hospital. The hospital was making money until Summers and Extended Company, Council and CCF put their alleged illegal decanting plan in place and lied to the citizens of Lakewood. League of Women's Voters, why didn't you take the time to investigate the hospital scam in it's entirety so that you could give a complete and truthful analysis?
I have one question for all of these gals, did they receive any compensation for seemingly supporting these alleged thieves?

Re: The BIGGEST lie of all
As I reviewed my previous post, which focused on tangible costs to taxpayers, I realized that I failed to mention the significant loss of public assets that this thread was intended to address. This more abstract concept of cost to taxpayers by loss of public assets has been difficult for many to understand. Perhaps because the impact will be felt gradually over time, much like the anecdote of a frog placed in a pot of cool water being boiled so slowly it doesn't notice the changes. In reality, the frog jumps out when he can't take the heat.Meg Ostrowski wrote:I have heard many stories of delayed treatment and additional cost due to the changes at Lakewood Hospital. Meg,
I believe the majority of our public assets are in the laundry right now!
