For Issue 64 Endorsements - Is This the best They Can Do?
A "vote for" Issue 64 card was left in my door after dark last night (canvassing after dark is not permitted). My, my, my, let's see who is endorsing Issue 64.
Mayor Michael P. Summers (a proven liar among other things)
All members of Lakewood City Council (robots for Mayor Michael P. Summers)
The Plain Dealer (still waiting for an explanation about that sudden property tax break on their building)
Cuyahoga County Democratic Party (virtually entirely composed of Summers & Council)
Cleveland Building Trades Council (endorsed Michael P. Summers in the last election, also endorsed Mark A. Schneider for Ward 3 council).
Linda Beebe, Tom Einhouse, and Betsy Bergen Shaughnessy (more robots for Summers, I believe)
And we can't forget: State Representative Martin J. Sweeney! Sweeney does not live in Lakewood and does not represent Lakewood. Let's see who has given to his political campaigns in his last few elections, shall we?
Dennis Roche - $100 on 5.26.11 (LHA)
Mary Louise Madigan - $30 on 5.27.10
Terrence McReynolds - $50 on 5.27.10 (City Hall employee, also a Lakewood resident)
Louis A. Frangos - $1,000 on 6.8.16 (brother of Gus Frangos, the county's top house thief, in my opinion)
Malachi A. Mixon III - $500 on 5.26.16 (CCF Board of Trustees)
Malachi A. Mixon III - $500 on 7.7.15
Cleveland Building Trades - $100 on 6.11.14 (also backs Issue 64, backed Mark A. Schneider for Ward 3 council)
Louis A. Frangos - $500 on 8/13/14
Sam H. Miller - $500 on 10.10.14 (on Forest City Board of Directors, behind the building of Rockport Square)
Malachi A. Mixon III - $1,000 on 6.11.14
William D. Mason - $250 on 6/6/13 (from Dimora days, alleged crook)
Malachi A. Mixon III - $1,000 on 5.22.13
Frank Mahnc Jr. - $100 on 5.22.13 (convicted in 1996 of lying to a grand jury)
Louis A. Frangos - $250 on 5.23.13
Malachi A. Mixon III - $500 on 12.26.09
Louis A. Frangos - $250 on 5.27.10
Malachi A. Mixon III - $500 on 5.25.11
Sam H. Miller ( $400 on 6.13.11)
Why should we trust Mr. Sweeney, when he appears to have CCF and Summers in his back pocket. Not to mention he does not even live here. Also see this article about Sweeney allegedly double-dipping and "cheating" Cleveland taxpayers: http://www.cleveland.com/cityhall/index ... ml?hts0021
Also see these articles about an FBI investigation into Sweeney, contractors, and campaign contributions as Cleveland City Council president:

It appears that Sweeney was labeled public official #6 by the FBI. Enough about Sweeney.
Two nights ago, several Lakewood residents also recieved robocalls from former Lakewood Mayor David R. Harbarger, a Republican, urging residents to keep Lakewood moving and vote against Issue 64.
It appears that former Mayor Harbarger has an impeccable record of honesty and transparency as well. Not!
According to a 7/4/1990 article in the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Harbarger was grilled by council and even residents about his alleged spending of $920 in taxpayer money for a legal opinion relating to his personal life. It became known as Lakewood "$920 question". Ed Graham was one of Harbarger's critics, demanding that citizens have a right to know why $920 in taxpayer money was spent on private legal fees for Harbarger.
According to a 4/9/1991 Cleveland Plain Dealer article, Harbarger came under fire again for allegedly having City Hall's public information officer distributing campaign literature and announcements for Harbarger's re-election using taxpayer money, equipment, employees, and time. In other words, taxpayers were paying for Harbarger's campaign, according to the article.
According to a 5/10/1992 Cleveland Plain Dealer article, Lakewood Parks Commissioner Donald Yates was caught in a criminal probe under Harbarger's watch. Yates ended up resigning over the scandal.
According to a 10/9/1994 Cleveland Plain Dealer article, Harbarger was aware that former Finance Director Mikula was taking city hall equipment such as telephones and computers out of City Hall and to his personal residence for personal use. According to the article, Harbarger did nothing despite his knowledge of this.
This is just the stuff we know about. How much was going on in Harbarger's City Hall that never came to light? Should we really trust what he has to say?
Finally, another robocall went out to residents from Nickie Antonio, urging residents to vote for issue 64. Do I really need to explain? Almost everyone knows that she infiltrated Mike Skindell's mayoral campaign and then took the mayor's side. Who knows whether or not she was giving campaign strategies back to Summers?
Also regarding the Cleveland Building Trades council. They told me during my Ward 3 campaign last year that they were just waiting to tear down the hospital. Why did they back Mark Schneider then? I thought he was for saving the hospital? I strongly suspect he will show up on the at-large ballot next year. Don't be fooled.
Should we really trust any of these people? Is this the best Summers & Co. could dig out of the woodwork to endorse his deal? Most of them appear to have been involved and allegedly involved in corrupt activity.

Re: For Issue 64 Endorsements - Is This the best They Can Do?
For issue 64 post card states that it is endorsed by all members of the Lakewood City Council. Remember when Dan O'Malley was running for council and came to some of the Save Lakewood Hospital meetings claiming that he was for saving the hospital? Wow! What a disappointment!
Was Mr. O'Malley infiltrating the group for Summers just like his best friend Antonio? Was he offered a reward, like the rest of them, that was too good to pass up?
Thank you Mr. O'Malley for the clarity on where you really stand. You are an alleged thief and money launderer too!

Re: For Issue 64 Endorsements - Is This the best They Can Do?
Did anyone notice that on the Vote For Issue 64 post card, there are no endorsements from any Medical Associations, such as the Heart Association, Nurses Associations, Stroke Associations, Emergency Management Associations?
I believe this is because they all know the truth about the importance of NOT DELAYING medical services, especially in emergencies. The Mobile Stroke Unit is a fallacy folks. You will more than likely be dead by the time it gets to Lakewood from CCF Main Campus which is by East 93rd and Euclid!
Heart attack victims are being charged for a helicopter ride to CCF Main Campus because Fairview is full to capacity. Remember the golden hour?

Lori makes a very strong case, but has anyone checked with Dan O'Malley to see if he approved the use of his name on the list.Lori Allen _ wrote:For issue 64 post card states that it is endorsed by all members of the Lakewood City Council. The other side has lied so long, so often, so blatantly, that I wouldn't put it past them.
Dan, I know you are out there and probably reading this. What say you?

Re: For Issue 64 Endorsements - Is This the best They Can Do?
Dan,
I think you missed the most important issue I brought up. Why are there no medical establishments or medical associations that will endorse o yes vote for issue 64?
The Mobile Stroke Unit is housed at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus located at East 93rd and Euclid. You will probably be dead by the time it gets to Lakewood!
How about the fact that heart attack victims are being turned away by Fairview Emergency Room? That means a helicopter ride and more charges for the patient, not to mention more time eating into the "golden hour".
So issue 64 is so great for our residents that NO MEDICAL ASSOCIATIONS or ESTABLISHMENTS will RISK PUTTING THEIR NAME ON IT!
Sounds like a wake up call for all Lakewood residents to me!
Vote no on issue 64. We deserve quality top rate medical care, even if Summers and Council don't think we deserve it!

I'm just curious how this apparent change of heart by Dan O'Malley came about. Or if wasn't a change of heart, was it just another lie?

Re: For Issue 64 Endorsements - Is This the best They Can Do?
Dan,
I think this came about due to the For 64 postcard (you may not have gotten one) saying that Issue 64 was backed by "ALL members of Lakewood City Council". If Mr. O'Malley indeed did not endorse issue 64, I welcome him to make a correction here with his true stance on the issue. It may also behoove him to put out some kind of public statement as soon as possible.
