Here Is Why SLH Doesn't Need A Plan

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

You know there are a lot of crazy requests thrown around here, and other places without much thought or historical perspective.

So let's look at history. LOVE CANAL - First Superfund Site

When Karen Schroeder, questioned her daughter's birth defects, she went to doctors and agencies, and they listened then ignored. It was not until the media got behind the terrible story did the public become aware of the problem. Awareness grew, and finally with much pressure, the government admitted they had a problem, and started the Superfund Program.

At no point did they ask Karen Schroeder to clean up the mess.

She was a hero because she found the problem and called attnetion to it.

SLH, jumped in when they thought they saw a bad deal, and the lawsuit is bearing out their worst fears. A hospital sold off behind the backs of residents by the very people that were there to protect us. At no point in the agreement with LHA was there any wording that allowed them to sell the hospital without us weighing in.

Vote Against 64, stop blaming the heroes, start holding the City Government accountable for what they have done behind our backs.

I like Bill Call's prescriptive posts a lot.
But if left to me, I would say simply that if the voters speak in favor of the referendum, there is a "you-broke-it, you-fit-it" obligation that falls to our civic leaders.
