When is a hospital a hospital?

There's been a debate here whether the hospital was sold or not. Black or white, yes or no question, right?

If you think of a hospital in terms of strictly the brick and mortar, like the mostly empty building at Belle and Detroit, then no it has not been sold.

But you think of a hospital in terms of the people - patients, doctors, support staff - as well as the services, the beds, the equipment, the paperwork, the billing, etc., - it could be anywhere, in a field under MASH tents, in old empty school, in a new facility in a far away town, or spread out to a number of other health facilities. In those terms, Lakewood Hospital is sold and gone, and we didn't get much for it, relative to its estimated value. It could come back if Issue 64 is defeated, the contract with CCF is enforced, and the restrictive covenant is lifted.

But right now it's an empty building and not a hospital, just like the one in Avon you can see from I-90.

Seriously, why won't anyone touch on this question? It must be a sore spot, weakness or unknown. Hopefully it doesn't mean that there is no plan other than wait, see and pray.

It took about 18 months to Build Avon Hospital including moving Lakewood's equipment there---CCF has "good" leadership.

It took two only two weeks and 3 readings to sell Lakewood Hospital with CCF paying only$9.6M---the City has no leadership.

Seriously, add true leadership, plus $278M and we have a hospital in 18 months.


Why can't the Spokesperson for Voters For Progress justify why he promotes giving away a $180M asset and a $278M?

It must be a sore spot or weakness that they have no answers for why they did this and continue misrepresent what they did and what they are getting.

It is kind of like they are saying "we just stole $180M, let's all go have a picnic."

There is no hospital in Lakewood.

All we have been left with is the "empty bricks and mortar" that Jenn Pae warned us about.

So BuildLakewood "won" the last election, and what did it get us?

Exactly what BuildLakewood supporters feared!
