Lakewood Dem Club Purging Members, Banning Cameras

The Lakewood Democratic Club is just that - a club; a membership organization. There should be - and are - important criteria for membership. Among them should be 1) being a Democrat; and 2) subscription to the principles of the Democratic Party.

Read the bylaws..there is no criteria for membership....for voting on endorsements or to be an endorsed candidate, yes...for being a member, nothing. Please change the bylaws if you feel this way. I would guess there are some other Republican members that joined to support Summers given his campaign manager for his last race is a Republican. Perhaps membership should be vetted. It's not, so this is a lame excuse. I am appalled at how many people belong to a club and have no idea as what are the club's bylaws.

My first foray into Lakewood politics was to to help campaign for Nickie Antonio and at the same time, campaign for a candidate running against Kevin Butler because at the time he was a registered republican. As I recall he was endorsed. If the club played by the rules the club had established, there would have been no problems.

Also, the club's website appears to be down. Scrubbing?

Since they appear to be making up bylaws as they go along about adhering to democratic values, perhaps a few of our city leaders should be purged from the club as well.

Selling a community asset behind closed doors doesn't seem democratic.

Allegedly stealing homes from citizens without due process doesn't seem democratic.

Lying by saying things like "the hospital isn't closing" doesn't seem democratic.

Ignoring the under-served and the elderly doesn't seem democratic.

Allegedly intimidating citizens for opposing political viewpoints doesn't seem democratic.

I believe O'Malley is #4 as being assigned the position of the Deck spokesperson for Summers. First Jen Pae, when she got backed into a corner and could not give answers, Butler stepped up to the plate. After Butler, it was Gilman. They all were asked questions they could not answer, probably on the grounds it might incriminate them, and now we have O'Malley. Remember during the election last year when O'Malley came to some of the Save Lakewood Hospital meetings and pretended to be on their side? What happened? I know he is a friend of Antonio's. So, it appears that they both infiltrated the group. I am assuming to take information back to Summers and his Builders.

Mr. O'Malley, unless you are prepared to turn over ALL requested documents pertaining to the hospital deal that you all appear to be hiding from the residents, including those from the Lakewood Hospital Association and the Lakewood Hospital Foundation, tell us the truth about the alleged thefts, and demolitions of homes that appear to be happening mainly in YOUR ward, I see no reason for you to continue to be the new "cheerleader" for Summers.

You were such a nice guy and I had great faith in you. What a shame, it appears you have gone to the dark side! Mr. O'Malley, it is not to late to turn over evidence to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. I don't believe Summers will save you. If I were you, I would make a very important telephone call today and start singing like a bird!

For what it is worth, one of the major problems has always been more than two sides in the discussion. Everyone thinks there is their view point, and the other side. Vary far from the truth. Two things going on that I see.

1) No elected official likes, residents inspired referendums. It ruins the flow of government, and should be used in extreme circumstances. I would say this is one.

2) The vilification of otherwise good people because they have different views or see a different means to and end.

Lori, last week besides calling me a chauvinist yet again, you also accused me of being a Summers plant or tool. My neighbor David Anderson has been accused of being on the take, part of the dark side, etc. Cindy Marx has been bought, now Dan O'Malley. It is not that simple, they are all doing what they are doing for various reasons.

As for me, until City Hall comes clean, and produces the documents, this should not be allowed forward, and the only way to slow it down and get enough time to understand what really happened, is to Vote Against 64, then look at the documents. If everything is OK, let it proceed, if not, look at options before we lose everything.

I don't know Dan, or really any of council. Maybe David more than most, they are not evil, just given a terrible deal and worried, if not afraid of getting nothing.

The only way to restore trust, and their good names is by releasing all the documents.

You want people to come out of the shadows and stand up. I am doing just that and suddenly you drag my name through the mud and try to defame me? I thought we had a very nice conversation on the phone the other day. We discussed delicate matters that you wanted me to keep quiet. I kept that confidence. What happened?
