Life Imitates Comedy

Post by Michael Deneen »

Over the past year I have snarkily replied to Deck complainers "What about the Solstice Steps".
This was intended to parody City Hall's frequent harping on the Solstice Steps as a means to distract voters from the Hospital Giveaway.

Lo and Behold, guess what the pro-64 side is planning on Saturday:

A Flashmob for 64 at the Solstice Steps!

Yes, we are all invited to the Solstice Steps to celebrate the joys of job loss, tax loss, and medical redlining!
They plan to take a photo of all the 64 supporters on the steps.....with refreshments!

BTW, these folks are apparently unaware that a "flash mob" is supposed to be spontaneous and fun.
This event is a corporate rally.

They are really out of touch - must be a bunch of old people.

A flash mob (or flashmob)[1] is a group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual and seemingly pointless act for a brief time, then quickly disperse, often for the purposes of entertainment, satire, and artistic expression.[2][3][4] Flash mobs are organized via telecommunications, social media, or viral emails.[5][6][7][8][9]

The term, coined in 2003, is generally not applied to events and performances organized for the purposes of politics (such as protests), commercial advertisement, publicity stunts that involve public relation firms, or paid professionals.[7][10][11] In these cases of a planned purpose for the social activity in question, the term smart mobs is often applied instead.

Say what you will they're mixing it up.
Instead of the inner circle huddled in the recesses of City Hall chanting " The Greater Good." We're now all invited to the spectacle of an orchestrated "flash mob" on the Solstice steps. Celebrating, to borrow from Michael Deneen, the feel good "joys of job loss, tax loss, and medical redlining."
Mike Summers and Kevin Butler selfie stick in hand. Basking in the sun. Extolling the transparency of an outdoor event.

Stop withholding Public Records.
It's disgraceful.

Thanks Tara.
Nationally, many folks have pointed out the prophetic parallels between the Trump campaign and the 2006 film "Idiocracy".

In a small (very very small) way perhaps I did the something similar locally.

They will be taking a group photo on the Solstice Steps.
I wonder if Summers, Butler, Pae, and the gang will all do head turns toward each other like "The Brady Bunch" intro.

Perhaps they can dance, lip sync over from the $2.5 million solstice steps to one of Lakewood's City run pools that need almost $4 million in repairs as we found out at the City Council/School Board Meeting.

Mike spending Jacobs money like a drunken sailor.

Foster Pool needs $4 million in repairs?

The hospital supposedly needed $95 million for upgrades and the parking garage $9 million for repairs.

It begs the question - what was the mayor doing while the city crumbled?

Is he paying attention to important things like managing the city assets or was he too busy giving them away?

Let's be honest his "good business sense" comes from closing stuff he was given down.

Mike, I hope this event does not run into our "Drunken Sailor Flashmob" featuring 100 drunken sailors in Mike Summers masks.

It just occurred to me, Solstice Steps another Summers lie.

Besides cost and the reason for building, they lied about the origin, who came up with it, where it was copied from, and finally, ran the guy that proposed it out of the building department.

Remember, we produced the facts, talking with the person that proposed it...

Jim Blockside's Solstice Steps?

The Brooklyn Bridge Steps, which gave Jim the idea for Lakewood Park almost 8 years ago, which he presented, and shared the paperwork. Mayor Summers and Dru took the credit. Why? Why lie about that?

Of course they would use another Mayor Summer's lie, this one costing Lakewoodites only $2.5 million dollars, in the video.

We used it in our drunken sailor video. Of course ours was truthful.
