Can't believe nobody is weighing in on this here. I'm hearing that the high school is basically 2/3 empty today.

No sense giving the person more publicity and attention.

I doubt the kid looks for mentions on the observation deck. This event (the WHOLE event, including school, police, and community response) seems about 50 times more relevent to the average Lakewoodite's life than the closing of the hospital.

These sort of threats are to be reported to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Did the schools do this?

My sources indicate it's "business as usual" at the schools, although there are lots of kids absent at LHS.
I assumed this was a hoax from the start. However, I understand the decision to make this public.....better safe than sorry.

I hope you are wrong.
The message went out through the schools, and their network. They had very little other knowledge, than the graffiti, not even when it was done.
Authorities were notified, parents were told, as of 4:00pm There was no incident, though there was no date given.
What other comment is there?

Re: Graffitti Threat Found at Lakewood High School
Unfortunately, this type of graffiti (i.e. "If you think Columbine was bad just wait for.....") has happened year after year in high schools across the US for many, many years. IMHO, the school handled it the best possible way they could. Our daughter goes to Lakewood HS and we had no issue having her attend school today. Not one ounce of thinking we shouldn't do so. If others felt concerned enough to not have their kids attend, that is definitely their right and I have no issue with it. The school gave everyone the information and people could react to it the way they feel was best for their family.

3 arrests have been made, but not "the graffiti artist" at this time.

I wonder to what means our Mayor will go to to sweep this one under the rug!

Not sure how the mayor got in here.
Often elected officials keep things out of the media. That is done for a variety of issues.
From what I hear, all they have so far is 3 very stupid teens. It would seem to me teens doing stupid things not really newsworthy.
But that is just me.

How about the rape and murder that happened two years ago on Clifton? We did not hear about that one did we? Perhaps Mr. Summers would like to insert a comment here.

And while we're at it... what happened to Swap Shop on Madison at the end of the 90s? Perhaps the former owner would like to explain why his store suddenly went out of business by placing a comment here. How about the rape and murder that happened two years ago on Clifton? Re: Graffitti Threat Found at Lakewood High School
I'm still receiving emails from the principal about this. It's a big event for these kids in Lakewood. It's a lot like the patriot act response felt to many of us - an extreme invasion into personal liberty which hands tremendous power over to those who would even merely make a threat.
