Police & Pay
Law enforcement persons salaries should be doubled, at the very least, doubled. One of the most valuable resources we employ, and the most dangerous occupation, nothing is more important than our safety. How do we pay for that? Crimes & fines, that's how. Any fine imposed for any offence, should be doubled. From residents putting their trash out days before pickup, to traffic violations, drugs, robbery, assault, you name it. I try my best to be law abiding, fines won't hurt my financial picture. Those breaking our laws, tying up our courts, our police, our valuable time. Raise those fines so high, that we could double those salaries and hire even more law enforcement personnel. The times we live in call for drastic action, now. We are not safe, hit them in their pockets, give us more police, more pay and make America Safe Again.

Re: Police & Pay
I agree with jack, I saw a post once showing how much a pension many goverment officials collect after they leave office, for life, many over $100,000. Free health care, office staff, all the perks, body guards, a most luxurious lifestyle, while the men and women who risk there lives every day, our servicemen, veterns, make at best $50,000. It's a shame.

Re: Police & Pay
While driving home from a meeting, late one evening in my 1990 Jeep, I got pulled over by the Lakewood Police, Good evening officer, whats up? He said, "you don't have any tail lights". I said thank you, I didn't know that, he ran my plates, ect, and said, "I'm going to give you a citation". I said, I'm sorry, I'm driving in my car, I can't tell if I have tail lights or not, my dash lights & head lights are working, can't you give me a warning, 24 hours to fix the problem and come to Lakewood Police Station & show evidence it had been repaired?
No, you have to appear in traffic court. What? $200.00 fine & court cost, thanks a lot for your trust and confidence in a old law abiding citizen not knowing my tail lights are not working. Guess next time I should ask my neighbor if all my lights are working when ever I need to go somewhere. The repair cost $100.00. $300.00 for a simple problem I was not aware of.
Sure, he may have thought I was drunk or hiding something, maybe he would find more cause, I was polite and surprised, yet thankful, he let me know my tail lights were not working, but a $200.00 fine? It's not like I was speeding or throwing trash out the window, making an illegal turn, tail lights. I'm just saying.

I'll say it again, police, law enforcement. the defenders of our liberty and freedom, those persons salaries should be doubled at the very least. along with free college for there kids, and health insurance for life. much like what congress gives itself, and they're not defending us, our men and woman, who risk their lives, day after day, give them it all, congress, the government are big fat asses, what do they do? deprive our service men & woman of the care they need? if I'm, wrong, inform me, seems to me, their living the high life & eating at fine restaurants, on my dime. when and if I need help, I want the law enforcement not the government.

Not to ruin a good discussion with yourself, but, I too have run afoul of the law in regards to tail lights.
I appeared at court early, with the repair bill, and everything was dropped.
Were your tail lights fixed by the time you got to court?
