The bend in Warren Rd

Post by Mark Crnolatas »

Yesterday, we had our 2nd or 3rd or even 4th vehicle of the year so far come up onto our sidewalk in front of our house. It's not even snowing yet. Most hit while we are sleeping, we hear the bang and they drive off, with a post or 2 pushed or broken.

This one broke off all but a couple posts, the ones the city has put in, and the vehicle wasn't even totaled. Lucky people. My wife was standing on that very spot not more than a hour earlier.

I'm not sure what my mother and father, who actually own the house have done, as far as asking the city or Mayor Tom George for at least a sign with lights closer to I-90 saying "Dangerous Curve". Long ago a police car backed in our drive to watch traffic, and he said 'I'd hate to have to back out into this every day".

We have only had one fatality in front of the house 2 doors down, in the 25 yrs we've been here that we know of, but that's more than enough.

Pardon my going on, but all summer we sat very close to where this mini-van came up on the lawn, with our little one and played in the sun.
We won't do that anymore.

We all hope, not only us but the neighbors north of us too, that the city will do something to let the people know there IS a bend in the street, so one day we won't have a car drive into our living room.
