Lost Another One? Aντίο Greek Village?

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

Did we lose another one?

The best $8.99 Gyro in town closed? Possible the best dollar value in the city for dinner?

Been dark for days, does not look good.

UPDATE - The owner says closed right now for repairs.

Nice to see the love the community has for it.

We absolutely loved our Greek Village... the rice pudding, the hummus! It was the best Greek cuisine around, especially during those late hours. I was hoping they were only closed during these recent hot and humid days. This is terrible news.

Remember Colin McEwan's fuzzy math, only count business openings, not closings . . . so, we should still be above 4,000.

Good news!

There is a handwritten sign posted on their front door this morning. I was driving so didn't take a photo and can't recall every word but stated "Closed for repairs. Will open again soon. Sorry for any inconvenience."

Maybe.

I've seen several places that eventually closed post similar notices and never reopen.

I'm hoping it truly IS just a temporary situation. The gyros are huge!

Wow, I sure hope they don't close! Remember when Lord Lakewood said that once the hospital closed, we would experience great economic growth and jobs, jobs, jobs? I believe he is delusional. Drive down Madison and Detroit and look at the empty store fronts, not to mention the 1500 plus jobs lost by giving Lakewood Hospital away to CCF. Oh wait, I'm sure in the coming months Lakewood will acquire more vape stores, bars, and burner cell phone stores. ( call your drug dealer direct for a lot less! ) Summers has failed!

Door was open for a bit today, then closed and locked by the time I went back.

Let's hope they hang in there.

Supposedly, the owner has been posting on Facebook (under someone else's name) that he will be reopening soon.

He'd get the word out and avoid confusion if he'd post this information on his restaurant website and Facebook page so that people know.

The owner left a message the place is under repair as Meg reported.

Well perhaps he would have helped himself by using his online presence to post what was going on so customers would know. You can't rely on door signs. If no one answers a phone or puts it online, it's not out there. You can't assume everyone will drive over and look in the window.

A person posts that the best food value in Lakewood has been cold dark and empty for a couple days while driving past.

Questions and hopes it hasn't closed.

One person posted outrage of the story, though they never read it, or even the headline correctly.

Just the other comments on FB about it.

Welcome to social media,

Part of another post.

Yesterday I posted, that I wondered if Greek Village was closed? It had been dark for days I noticed while driving past. I referred to it as a great food value $8.99 Gyros. It would be a loss if it closed.

Owners, in theory, none have ever answered my calls to their cell and store, or returned them, and others DEMANDING a retraction.

Which comment? Good food value? It would be a loss? A favorite place of mine? Is it closing?

I stand by those comments.

I'm figuring Tommy, the owner, never read what I posted. Just what other people replied, or what they told him.

When Greek Village reopens, no one will be happier than I. My wife and I, were regulars.

And Tommy you know that is the truth, I would hate to hurt a business I like so much.
