Alternative Rental & Service Closing
The property is offered for sale, across from the old Hillard Theater Building, sorry to see them go, so handy to get our lawn mowers/snow blowers repaired. Now where do I go for that same service? Wonder why there not offering the business & property as one package? I think it is a great location for that type business, corner location, easy in and out.

Before finding Alternative Rental, we used Giaco's . . .. can't say that we were happy with the experience/result.
We've had this guy come out and do our snowblower. He is actually related somehow to one of the guys who owned Alternative. He has a mobile shop and comes right to your house so you don't need to lug a mower/blower anywhere. Costs a little more, but well worth it.

Perhaps this service (tool/equipment rental) is something Lakewood Hardware could fit into its repertoire.
Unless. of course, if Alternative closed/failed due to lack of customers/demand. If that's the case ...

Brian Hughes....
If he's the "Brian" I knew when Alternative took over the operation that was there before, and who left a few years ago, he really knows his stuff.
I told my youngest daughter many times. Eff Carnegie-Mellon. Eff neuroscience. Learn small engine repair. She chose Carnegie-Mellon anyway, despite my advice....

Tim-- It's not a lost cause because I think small engines are going to be much of our transportation and power source. Tell your daughter to drop the Pgh affiliation, get a CLE/216 image and then--you and your wife will be cruisin' in your "golden years"!

Re: Alternative Rental & Service Closing
Thanks Amy for passing that along, Mobile Equipment Repair, I'd be very interested in having someone come to my place to fix a small engine, that way I could watch & learn, and actually see what is done rather than leaving my equipment, then getting a big bill, I'm handy and capable, if only I had a little guidance. Also, some equipment is too big & heavy to even consider transporting.
I dropped off a lawn mower at Alternative on Friday, ask if I could assist in the repair, so I could learn, since they were closing anyway, he said no, that would cost way too much, but on Saturday he called, it was ready to go. thanks you for the quick service. In days past, when I'd go there, the place was stacked with all kinds of mowers, blowers, and had to wait weeks for the repair.
I do know of a guy, lives off W 150th, right around I-71, he does small engine repair, I went there first, he wasn't home, so I left my mower with a note with my phone number. A couple days later, his mail man called and said, Mr.______ was on vacation, for a couple weeks, how special is that? So I went to get it, and dropped off at Alternative.

Re: Alternative Rental & Service Closing
Wow, really surprised to hear they are closing. I learned not to bother bringing my lawn mower in anytime during the spring as they would have a backlog of about 50 mowers to service before they could get to mine.
I remember Bobson's used to sharpen mower blades long ago.
