Beebe Opinion in the Observer

Post by Bridget Conant »

Linda Beebe wrote in today's issue:
It is my hope that Lakewood voters will carefully consider the consequences associated with this expensive and pointless referendum

What are those consequences Ms Beebe? That perhaps we'd be able to stop being held hostage by the Cleveland Clinic?

And maybe you can specify what the "undocumented allegations" are on the flyers you mention? Or do you just throw out "undocumented allegations" yourself?

Frankly, your opinion piece sounds rather "threatening" to me.

It's interesting that Beebe has strong opinions on City Hall matters.

As a school board member, I thought she might be willing to offer some insight on school matters.

*What happened with the Lakewood Schools $6 million shortfall reported a few months ago? Has the issue been resolved? If so, how? How is it that the shortfall went undetected until after election day?

*In the previous issue of the Observer, Connie Mansell wrote an article about the School Board's refusal to fully collect property tax. Are Mansell's assertions accurate? If not, how so? If they are accurate, then why isn't the Board more aggressive in property tax collection?

Here is the article: http://www.lakewoodobserver.com/read/20 ... erty-taxes

*What are Beebe's views on such important educational topics as Common Core, standardized testing, and school lunches?

Instead of a simple-minded "cheerleading piece" for the Cleveland Clinic, I think her insight on the above would be appreciated.

I'll tell you why they don't challenge the valuations - because the largest disparities between market value or recent sale price and the county's appraisals tend to be in the affluent sections - Clifton Park, Lake Avenue and northward. They don't want to upset their friends.

"undocumented allegations"?

Part of the problem from the SLH standpoint, and on the Deck, is there is so much documentation, it's hard to distill.

If there were "undocumented allegations" on the flyer, why can't Ms Beebe address them? They bothered her enough to throw out those words but not enough to take the time to enumerate them.

Linda Beebe warning us all about consequences associated with the democratic process of voting.

These are the kind of talking points we can look forward to in the run-up to the election.

It is quite apparent that Beebe is a member of Lord's Company. I believe she is already in the air asking "how high', when Lord tells her to jump. In my experience and the experiences of others, she was the worst school board member when it came to asking for help for special needs children. I recall that her reply to me was, "what do you want me to do about it? I can't help you". A school board member who can't help?

Matt Markling was a very good school board member that had time for everybody and was polite. From what I have heard he was indirectly "run out" just like Woody Calleri was shut out and continues to be shut out. This is what happens in a one-horse town. The mayor and about twenty of his friends, along with extended company from other levels of government, appear to run the town, like a non-violent form of the Mafia.

Just my opinion.

So let me get this straight--does Beebe believe in:

1. Redlining real estate tax collection? AND
2. Redlining Healthcare?

There she is, Linda Beebe, in all her entitled arrogance, in effect telling Lakewood , "Now behave Johnny or there will be consequences."
Who do you think you are?

They did not run Matt out. He chose not to run for a variety of reasons including his three young sons, his very busy law practice, his love of spending time with his family. All things he does now.

He is to my knowledge the first elected official to speak about the "shadow government" in a public meeting. A term Councilman David Anderson used to use to.

I think we will be hearing much more from Matt in the near future.

No, come to think of it, I don't miss those days.

Perhaps certain office holders should remember that against which we fought 40 years ago.

My friend Linda-- do a check on your political/moral compass.

All righty, then. Mr. Rossen lays low until he sees an opportunity to directly attack The Lakewood Observer. Do you get paid in piece work?

Are you offering to pay me? I accept, but I don't work cheap.
