By blaming Bernie for losing, you are implicitly absolving the DNC of any collusion or bias in HRC's favor.Matthew Lee wrote:Matthew Lee wrote:Nope. That's not what I said at all. Keep in mind....I'm not saying that Bernie would have won if DWS were fair....but I do believe that her bias is indicative of larger problems in the DNC culture (and the political establishment in general).

This is a good development. It's great that the storefront on Detroit has gained a political life of it's own and is self-sustaining. It says a lot about Lakewood that groups like this want to headquartered here. People are hungry for new ideas!
Meanwhile, so much for the "change" candidate heading out the door (cue bitching and moaning...). Hillary will be much the same unfortunately.
These people are incapable of change. I hope everyone realizes that by now.

Absence of a positive does not equal a negative. This is one of the great logical fallacies. Just because YOU think that my blaming Bernie implicitly absolves the DNC of collusion does NOT mean that I ever, ever said that or believe it.Michael Deneen wrote: By blaming Bernie for losing, you are implicitly absolving the DNC of any collusion or bias in HRC's favor.

I am absolutely NOT absolving the DNC of any collusion or bias. At all. Never said that and never implied that. Only you are the one that said that. Please do not put YOUR words in MY mouth.
What I DID say is that Bernie lost this all on his own. No matter what the DNC did, or did not do, he was doomed. He had absolutely minimal support from minorities and could not explain his economic policies beyond "we should do this". That is what doomed him.

Look at the original post....I never said the DNC is why Bernie lost.Matthew Lee wrote:Absence of a positive does not equal a negative. This is one of the great logical fallacies. I only pointed out that the DNC is biased (something that has been subsequently proven correct via leaked info).
I complained about the DNC, and you immediately shifted to a critique of Bernie's campaign.
I never mentioned Bernie's campaign, you did. So it sure looks like you wanted to deflect blame or responsibility from the DNC.
In any case, you do a fine job of filibustering...but the fact remains that many folks are unhappy with the status quo.
That's the point..people are unhappy and they are organizing.

So when YOU brought up and blamed DWS before I ever brought her up (or the DNC), that is NOT you bringing up the DNC? Ok. Got it. Not worth debating. Fine, it is all everyone's fault except Bernie.Michael Deneen wrote:Look at the original post....I never said the DNC is why Bernie lost.Matthew Lee wrote:Absence of a positive does not equal a negative. Ryan is right on this one, Summers is a Democrat. You can look this up by going to the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections. I think that regardless of what party we affiliate ourselves with, we can all agree that Summers is a coward and a failure!

According to this site, Summers was voting Republican in 2000 and 2002.

Though I completely understand why you don't want to claim him.
Can you put up a link to the county information? All I can find are current registrants. I've search on Summers elsewhere and also found he switched his registration just as he started running for council. Same with Kevin Butler. Republicans until they run for council then switch to Democrat. Though I think the problems in our city are certainly bipartisan.
Nevertheless, I applaud the creation of a progressive caucus.

Ryan,
Bridget is correct. The BOE doesn't always have the most current records.

Not sure how a 3rd party source would be more accurate than a primary source but even if he voted Republican 3 times in the last 26 years he still clearly isn't a lifelong Republican.
Let's just agree that he shouldn't be our mayor and we deserve much better.

Re: Major New Political Group Coming to Lakewood
What are the differences between Democrats, Republicans and the Summers Party?
True Republicans are a group of people who want to take money from one group of people and give it to another group of people based upon their belief that society as a whole will benefit.
True Democrats are a group of people who want to take money from one group of people to another group of people based upon their belief that society as a whole will benefit.
The Summers Party is a small group of people who take money from another larger group of people based upon the farce that it is for the "Greater Good", but it is really to benefit the Summers Party members and the ego of Summers. The problem with the Summers Party is that its leaders repeatedly conceal who will get the money they have taking from the "others" (e.g. in the case of the hospital money is was taken from the underserved who Summers refers to "those people" and we really don't know yet who will get it--the "crime" is not yet complete). Nevertheless, it is clear that the Summers Party does not want to take care of the needs of the needy, it is also clear that they take care of the need of the greedy--Why else would the party conceal who gets the money at the expense of the poor?

Ryan is right. Summers is a democrat. That being said, when you are a coward and a failure, parties don't discriminate!
