Re: Why Did CCF Install Metal Detectors for Lakewood "ER"?
Lutheran Hospital has a room with 2 guards and medical detectors. They go thru your purse and then you walk thru the detectors when going back to the er. I swear I thought I heard that Fairview was going to install them as well but again don't quote that as I wasn't really paying attention when the person was talking. (i tend to tune out when I get bored)

The project to install metal detectors in the CCF ER's has been going on for 2 years it started with Lutheran and has to date been completed at 8 other CCF ER's as well as main and 3 FHC ER's.

Thank you, although I hate it when facts get in the way of conspiracy theories.scott gilman wrote:The project to install metal detectors in the CCF ER's has been going on for 2 years it started with Lutheran and has to date been completed at 8 other CCF ER's as well as main and 3 FHC ER's.

Thank you for that input and putting out fires.
Why can't other government officials and elected leaders answer important questions and put out fires?

Whoa there.
Why wasn't Avon's ER equipped with metal detectors from the get go? It was recently built and that would have been the ideal time to install them rather than try to retrofit into an operating ER facility and cause disruption.
I thought CCF was building a "State of the art" facility for all those special people out there. If they anticipated the "future" was having metal detectors in the ER, why don't they have one?
It's all BS.

Metal detectors make the hospital appear to be in a high crime area, which reflects poorly on the surrounding area, and offer a false sense of security:

But that's par for the course with the Clinic. It's all about the show - make it look like they are doing "something" to safeguard your security. There's probably a greater chance of the hospital inflicting harm on you than you getting shot by an intruder.

Less chance than getting hit by lightning.

Why can't other officials do damage control?
Security people standing by a metal detector right by the door is also a way to screen for possible anti-clinic people coming in to see what's going on.
Why are the security measures at Fairview last to be implemented when there have been at least ten rapes there over the past few years? Cleveland Police caught one but have never caught the second. The person dressed as a hospital employee and was going in and raping comatose patients. Plus, their ER is like a war zone.
This just shows that since CCF has taken total control over the urgent care, that it has really gone downhill safety-wise. I believe we can ultimately trace some of this back to our safety director, as he appears to do nothing.
FWIW.

Mr. Gilman,
Right before you answer why Avon's ER is different than Lakewood's...
Thank you in advance for addressing questions that have nothing to do with your job title, position, community or jurisdiction.
Then again, no need to respond about Avon ER, just the CAVS question would be great.

Can you tell me if you think the CAVS will sign Dwayne Wade soon or right before the February trade deadline?Bridget Conant wrote:Why wasn't Avon's ER equipped with metal detectors from the get go?

Re: Why Did CCF Install Metal Detectors for Lakewood "ER"?
So, not only are ER patients/family and any outpatients that come through the ER entrance subjected to this, the EMPLOYEES have to go through the metal detector and have their belongings searched. Since Feb. 5th, the employees were told to park in the ER parking lot, especially the 2nd and 3rd shift employees, since all entrances are locked at 6:00 pm. So you can imagine our surprise, when we walked through the entrance we were encouraged to use, that we were subjected to this. There was NO NOTICE that employees were going to have to do this, on a daily basis!!! I was told ( when I reacted to this pretty strongly) that we have no choice if we walk through those doors. And was also told that Lutheran and Main Campus have these metal detectors but their employees DO NOT have to go through this. It is pretty demeaning to be an employee and be subjected to this, as bad as having our belongings searched when the hospital was first closed and any employee walking over the bridge to the garage was searched.

Re: Why Did CCF Install Metal Detectors for Lakewood "ER"?
Metro ER has metal detectors.... Some gas stations in Cleveland have bullet proof glass when you go to pay.... Metal detectors and bullet proof glass are not a reflection of the company putting them in but a reflection of the safety of the neighborhood where they are located.
My family has lived in Lakewood for 3 generations. While we have made many improvements, and I feel Lakewood is still an amazing city, I do not feel we are as safe as we once were. I don't mind safety measures, I just don't believe they accomplish as much as they want people to think they do.
I was recently at a jewelry production company in NEO where they search all employees bags and have amazing security. You could ask why they would hire someone if they aren't willing to trust them but the company can do whatever they want. If the employee isn't happy they can find another job.

Re: Why Did CCF Install Metal Detectors for Lakewood "ER"?
It's not BS it's a reflection of the times we live in. We have metal detectors at airports, sporting events, schools, courts and public buildings. Going into the new county offices everyone passes through the metal detectors. The detectors for the CCF facilities are being rolled out to the other ER's as the employees are trained to operate the equipment. Putting them in Lakewood was not reflective of the area just that the employees there were trained in the equipment use. Even when I go to protected buildings in uniform I pass through the metal detectors I just look at it as a needed level of safety and security that we are destined to live with.
