There's an old, somewhat cynical maxim in journalism that "freedom of the press belongs to those who own one."
That needs to be interpreted a bit for the digital age, but I think it still hold true, and Jim O'Bryan shows incredible, almost unbelievable restraint in sharing that freedom with others. Let's keep that in mind on Independence day.

On the eve of Independence Day, let us all remember that our hard won freedoms are fragile. Freedom of the press is the cornerstone of democracy.

We see how corporate interests control the Pee Dee. We need the Observer now more than ever. Stay vigilant and don't let the PTB silence the Observer - because they are silencing YOU.
