This Time It's Real

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

We all remember months ago when the "real media" told us that one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse were headed to Lakewood in the form of Cicadas. Well to date I have not seen one, though Deb saw one near Lakewood, but...

The Canadian Soldiers have arrived, and this is the first big day, should go one for weeks.

Canadian Soldiers? Muffleheads? Mayflies?

The light colors of recently restored Forbici Salon, seems to attract them.

Enjoy, it makes fly selection for fly fishing easier.

I went out to my lake house this morning to mow. It's between Huron and Vermilion where the lake is shallower. Took a close-up picture with my phone. The place was pretty well covered even though most of it is not lightly colored. Mowing (2.5 acres) was a treat, mayflies everywhere. I was pretty much bombarded....

In Canada, they call them "fish flies"--they stink like fish.

Geez I thought they called them "American Soldiers"..... :D

BTW Brian my place is about a half mile from Cranberry Creek Marina. Quite a few fishing trips depart from there as I'm sure you know....

That is an awesome place to get at the fish.

I hear that they are limiting out now from the Vermillion weather buoy to the islands.

I fished the north bay of Pelee and on the east side of Pelee last weekend and we were one shy of a limit on both outings.

There were clouds of mayflies on Pelee--absolutely beautiful!
