LO_12_13 Online and On The Streets

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

“The freedom of the press is one of the greatest bulwarks of liberty, and can never be restrained but by despotic governments.” George Mason, (1776)

One issue from celebrating the completion of 11 full years of publishing the news, opinions, photos, videos, music, thoughts and at times what many would call "Not really even a thought." We have done it together, through thick and thin, good times, bad times, and better times. We have done it in a community and an environment that is filled with varied opinions, various dreams of what the community should be, or could be.

Starting with the Fourth of July edition, we will begin celebrating the past. We have some great stuff planned, including parties, and classes. And every inch of the way, we will have fun, respect and love for the community we are part of. It is the foundation of this project, and continues, no matter what bumps in the road we have or will encounter.

For your viewing pleasure, from the hearts, minds and souls of many, many Lakewoodites over the past 275 issues, to your eyes, and head. Together, we are Lakewood, and the Lakewood Observer for over a decade.

Special shout out to fellow "Business Person of the Year" recipient Lucinda Einhouse, well deserved long overdue. When we helped to break the story on the Beck leaving for Westlake one of the many solutions I suggested, for stability, was a Lakewoodite at the helm, like Cindy. Together with her husband Tom Einhouse, (Playhouse Square and Assoc.) they are the heart and soul of live theater, entertainment, and theatrical classes between New York and Chicago. We are lucky to have her at the Beck and in Lakewood. Great work Lakewood Chamber of Commerce on selecting Cindy, I mean, President and CEO of the Beck Center, Lucinda Einhouse. (story on page 1)

Big thanks to all the writers, photographers, and editors that made it happen.
Especially Margaret for fitting in those last minute Cavs photos and the Human Rights ordinance story.
Also thanks to Deb Sweeney, the Observer's official Hillary Clinton correspondent!

Let's hope they continue playing into their high school years. The program needs numbers.

I love that place....those two are great guys. I highly recommend visiting the store, even if you're not interested in buying.....the guys love to show off the critters.

Agreed. The numbers are coming. They have been working on building the feeder system to keep the numbers growing. Keep in mind this is the first year Lakewood has ever had a middle school fastpitch program so there was no base to work from. They have some catching up to do to match boys' programs - but it will happen. Glad to see it developing at 10U on up (and the 10U coaches are excellent!).

Keep an eye on the girls fastpitch program - good things to come!!
