Carson: "We (BL) are not the political or marketing arm of anyone."

Post by Brian Essi »

It has now been proven from BL's own Treasurer's report that LHA paid a Build Lakewood PAC $50,000.00 for marketing and PR to fight against issue 64--that $50,000.00 was around 90% of all known funding of the PAC.

The money was used, for example, to send the so-called "13 Pinocchio Postcards" i.e. 13 false and/or misleading statements mailed to Lakewood voters to mislead them:

Yet Jay Carson claimed to city council, among other things, "We are not the political or marketing arm of anyone" Huh?

Wasn't the PR firm hired with the LHA money (our money) the same PR guys who worked for the mayor and who worked for LHA doing PR?

And Carson claimed that SLH made false statements and carried out propaganda campaign? Huh?

Ohmigod - READ THIS attachment.
Lakewood Hospital Association writes a check (to "Veto 64") for $35,000 on 10/16/2015 and another $15,000 on 10/29/2015.
For the sole purpose of destroying the hospital the Association is sworn to PROTECT, PRESERVE and SUPPORT.
Ron Petrie, Treasurer of Veto 64 didn't report this until 2/18/16 which is more than 3 months post-election. I'm not sure what the due date was - but the accounting couldn't have been terribly complicated, with only 9 donations and 7 expense checks written, the last one on 11/30/2015.
Over $45,000 to one firm for "campaign management". $5,000 for postage.
Curious too - the Great Lakes Strategies address in Birmingham MI. (Don't know, any relation to Fitz's Great Lakes Strategies??)
Question: What happened to checks #95, 96, and 1002. Ron doesn't present a full check sequence on his report. I realize that with a startup you have starter checks, but then go into a series of preprinted checks.
AND the mayor in his sworn deposition says "no, LHA didn't pay for any campaign against the referendum." Then he changed his tune, in the "errata" sheet - "Yes, LHA did." But he was ON the LHA board when those checks were written. Was he lying under oath? Or was he lying when he wrote the errata sheet? Must be ONE OR THE OTHER.
Ron Petrie is father to Emma Petrie Barcelona on the School Board--which also wanted to close the hospital. WHY???

Marguerite

Great Lakes Strategies on Maple in Birminham MI does not exist. A company by that name was bought by Ceridien in 2003. A number they had listed is not in service.

Kevin Butler filed as the agent for a new company, Great Lakes Strategies LLC on Superior in Cleveland last summer.

Why did they list the address of a non-existent company?

We deserve answers. Where did the money go and for what purpose? Did the Kevin Butler company get it? Why did they use a false address!

According to this thread, Great Lakes Strategies is an Ed Fitzgerald company.

It gets curiouser and curiouser.

Are we to believe that the person filling out and filing with the Board of Elections a legal document had no idea the address of Great Lakes Strategies? GLS also appeared on Mayor Summers' campaign report.

Maybe the Deputy Treasuer or his side kick can belly up to their keyboards and clear all this up?

I think the Deck is working--look at the answers that appeared so far by just asking some questions in a forum like this.

From what I read here, LHA's contribution to the VETO-64 PAC were not allowed according to IRS rules.

Curious as to who authorized these contributions and was the full board made aware of these contributions.
