Car Twists And Rolls Down Woodward

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

Image
Sunday morning around 5:15am a Dodge Avenger was reported in a one car accident on Woodward Avenue.

Image
As soon as police and fire arrived it was changed to a 2-car accident.

Image
The driver was reported as slightly confused.

Image
Which often happens when a car rolls and twists at 5am, in about 25', as neighbors look on.

Image

Image
The driver blamed a squirrel that ran in front of him, causing him to correct and run into a parked SUV.

Image
A neighbor who came out and called the police mentioned, "We have squirrels, but I'm not buying it."

Image
After a series of tests, it would seem the police thought there could have been other causes.

Image
The other point of conversation was how did the car, roll, and twist on the roof and side in less than 15'?

Image
That is the SUV it hit, right next to it on the street.

Image
Hence the reason for using the word "Twist."

Is this like a Kreskin act? I will reveal the person's next destination, by rolling the car and writing it in scrapes!

Image
No one injured, quick attention by Lakewood Police and Fire, and the holiday weekend will continue for all.

Image
Good work Lakewood Police and Fire Department.

Move along, nothing to see.

Have a great holiday weekend.

My photo editor with the NYPost would have loved having you work for him. You're always on the spot! Nice pics.

That is eerie like a Twilight Zone episode.

I am not surprised by this. I could not believe that at 10:00 yesterday morning, the streets south of Madison were already parked up with bar patrons and we already had drunks stumbling out of the bars and onto the sidewalks. How many of these hit-skips that happen in the middle of the night are actually drunks?

Some in the city administration sure seem to like bars and drinking establishments. Perhaps there is more of a connection than I thought.

Glad nobody was hurt and that the emergency crews got it done efficiently.

More information about bars and alcohol being out of control in Lakewood coming soon.

How on earth does one do this with a sedan? I don't think I could put a car on it's side if I tried, esp. a car like that and end up in the middle of the road? Weird.

Cameron, with alcohol, anything is possible! I felt sorry for our police officers this weekend. They had so many calls to the bars, drunks, fights, domestic violence and loud music that they really could have used more officers. Remember when Lord said that Lakewood doesn't have that much domestic violence? I suggest he may want to familiarize himself with the police call logs.

Was this near the traffic calming embankments things? Driving drunk is never a good (or legal) choice, but I wonder if he was trying to swerve around the calming sections.

No--it was up by Delaware. You can see Hayes Elementary in the background.
