That is not true, the sections were for things like Lakewood Family Collaborative, other Observers, and legal questions and reviews.

There are no secret planning areas. They are public sections, if you are a member of Lakewood Family Collab.,

While I know a great many talk for hours about what to post and who to trick who, the Deck is not part of that BS.

You came late, we have always offered groups space on the deck, the site, websites, etc.

No skulduggery.

Jordan Family Foundation could have started a group, can again after next upgrade. We are integrating into a new format. If you were planning an event we gave groups space for those discussions, Library Foundation had one for the Grand Opening. Places to talk about their events. At one time you could have also gotten a FREE website with FREE ecommerce. We scaled back to non-profits that come to us, Like Lakewood Historical Society.

I believe the Lakewood Family Collab discussion was about battered women shelters, rape crisis etc., no longer used, not deleted. They wanted to keep stalkers, angry spouses etc from seeing the information. Kristina Pagsyuin ran it, not us, I was not a member of it.

This has been this way since Day one.

Going back to the holiday weekend.

That would have been great had I known about it or you told me about. (Back then you had plenty of opportunity. ). Instead these secret groups are being used for group think and plotting, seems like a missed opportunity for great things.

When the company you used to work was looking for website solutions, as an advertiser, they were offered free web space. I could have sworn you were at some of the discussions. They went with Patzke, I think. We stopped the commercial side, as it makes more sense for them to go to Go-Daddy. Around 2006 I want to say, Lakewood Public Library was ending the practice of giving non-profits free space, we agreed to let anyone that wanted to transfer to use do it for FREE.

I have no idea how many came or how many are left. Not my department. So much of what happens at the Observer is not my department. I am not a programmer, not technician, not an editor, not in charge of community out reach, Hell I don't even read a Lakewood Observer until after it is printed. We have grown a great staff and a great group of people in every city we are in. I basically, kick it here, and deal with political officials in other cities. Hence why I have copious amounts of time to drink coffee.

When the new site is working, some bugs right now, I would be happy to sit down with you and see if we can save you some money. For some people it is a saving of $10 a month, for others like LHS, it has been a savings of thousands and thousands, which makes a huge difference to a small non-profit.

Corey, you got a great family and it looks to be a stellar holiday weekend have fun. We can continue this on Tuesday. I promise, not to go out of business this weekend.

Kate same to you. Enjoy, you work hard, you deserve the break.

PS - Added - Corey, Send a message to our old moderator Jim Devito, he never signed a Non-Disclosure agreement. I never knew him when we brought him in to moderate Deck, he had highest access and clearance, ran and rebuilt the Deck, he will tell you, THERE ARE NO SECTIONS WHERE SECRET PLOTTING FOR THE DECK EXISTS. None.

peace

I was never a part of the discussion that resulted in Patske, that was before my time.

Have a good weekend.
PS - It annoys me to keep hearing you say "not my department" or anything close to that. It is your logo, you should know everything going on, instead you conveniently play the ignorance card when back against a wall or wish to "not comment" on a subject. Your logo. Own it. All of it.

Not my logo, the logo of a S-Corp, with a board of 7, of which I am a shareholder, I am not even the largest shareholder. Not trying to doge ownership, just do not want to explain things I don;t understand things I do not understand. I am not a programmer, I do not understand programing, I cannot explain progamming, you would have to ask one of the 6 programmers we have had headed by Dan Ott. When the library asked us, I turned it over to Dan Ott who heads technology for us. He took care of it, we do not bill, I do not micromanage other business' sites. With the print versions the agreement we have with Margaret Brinich and every editor we have is, I will not exert influence on them, NONE. I have asked for a favor as others have, and once in a while get it, but I have no control over it except paying the bill. I know everyone likes to think I'm a control freak we all do our things, and rarely talk. I talk with you more than the programmers or board, but then you do not bill me. There are 7 lawyers that work with the project, everything from intellectual property, to people using our trademarked items illegally. I have no idea what they do day to day, they just do it. Betsy heads up community out reach as a volunteer, I never tell volunteers what to do. Once in awhile I will ask them not to do something.

You have us confused with one person blogs, I actually have more to do with our newest Observer and the one about to launch, than the Lakewood Observer.

I own responsibility for the project, though I don't own actually own all of it, only a percentage. I have no ideas what people make up, but there is a board for AGS, one for the paper, a staff for the software company, over 60 staff in 15 communities. There is a Board of directors, there is an advisory board, there is a Deck advisory board, all listed in the paper.

No one is hiding anything, There are posts on the Deck offering "stemsites" letting people know we offer them. way back in 2006.

I'm taking responsible, but also trying to get you information on a great holiday weekend. But honestly with 12 papers by the end of summer, each having a staff and thousands of members and writers and issues, I cannot know it all, so why act like I do?

Hi Corey,

If you go back to the Board Index you can see all of this stuff. I was part of a group in 2009 called PALS (Parent Advocates of Lakewood Students) and we debated back and forth, starting with a closed group, and finally deciding on an open group, because we wanted more people to see what we were up to and join us. The reason for the closed group was to get our act together in an online discussion with each other, without the general public, or the School Board, watching every exchange while we discussed different issues and many of us had differing opinions within the group. This was great for busy moms and dads because we could have a group discussion without having to leave the house for a meeting. Eventually we moved on to other things as you will see from the dates on that forum if you look it up, but it served its purpose when we needed it.

Scroll down and you'll see the invitation to the community to start a group, under Lakewood Organizations. It says, "Tell us about your group or organization." As you can see the people who started this were very ambitious and creative about all of the ways this project could be used. You can see from the dates that at one time, groups like LEAF were active on their part of the Deck. Right now, the one section that has really taken off is the Lakewood General Discussions part. Since I became one of the editors with LO we have debated about how groups should be broken up on the Deck. I'm one who supports using the LGD part for everything because I don't want to take the time to look through the other forums and I don't want to post on other forums because I don't think those sections get a lot of views. There are technical things I don't understand that well like how much space each partition can hold with our mission of having the Deck be a "living history of Lakewood" with everyone's posts available from the beginning. That's part of the discussion also, but I'm not qualified to get into any discussion with computer programmers.

All this stuff has been sitting there since the Observation Deck started and you could have seen it at any time if you hit the back arrow when you're on the Lakewood General Discussion Forum or go to the top of the Deck page you're on and click on "Board Index." With all of the secrets etc and paranoia in Lakewood right now (and I'm very paranoid, I think for good reason), what happens with the deck isn't secret.

I know there is big thread drift here. Probably a different topic should be started about people leaving City Hall called "Drew Siley exits" or something like that or "City of Lakewood employees that are getting out" but I figured I would share my experience on this drifted part.

Great post. I remember when the Deck started and I considered the "tell us about your organization" thread but even at that time only the "general discussion" was receiving any traffic. I posted in some other topics but always resorted to "general" for any audience otherwise the post was lost on the Deck.

I guess my problem with the part about Deck Secret Societies is the hypocrisy that exists within. The powers that be on the Deck criticize others for secrets yet they have been keeping many all along. This is the part where the powers that be, that claim to have no power or know of anything happening in the business, claim private sector vs government. I understand that part as well. It gets tiresome watching others throw stones when their own homes are solid glass. Or practice what you preach. Or...some other tiresome cliche.

Hypocrisy?

Secret Societies?

Criticize others?

Tiresome?

I trolled all morning without a bite--stick baits, crawler harnesses, planer boards, dipsy divers--but not a bite and hardly marked a fish on the screen. It was great.

How are you doing there brother?

Cab you tell us about your organization?
