FHC Building Design

Post by Michael Deneen »

The usual suspects (Build Lakewood, City Hall, Cleveland Clinic) have been busy on the Internet. They are proudly sharing the new FHC building design that was unveiled yesterday.

It's a Cleveland Clinic-style glass building, which is completely out of place with the neighborhood. If this had been pitched by anyone else, the design would be blown apart by the Architechtural Review Board.
However the Clinic runs City Hall, so it will breeze right through.

City Hall and Friends hope that people are easily dazzled by shiny things.

The Clinic has a certain "style" that goes along with its "brand." They will totally control the design and the city has NO say at all. If they pretend they do, it's another lie.

They will toe the line faster than you can say "Jen Pae".

With my research on Cuyahoga County and Cuyahoga County Courts, several times I told SLH that they would not get a fair trial in Cuyahoga County or with Judge O'Donnell due to cronyism with Lord Lakewood and friends. Meanwhile, over a year later, and where are we? I believe we can thank Budish, FitzGerald and others in Cuyahoga County Government for allowing CCF to start building prior to the law suit being heard or prior to the judge informing himself about the case by reading the documentation that he admitted he had not had time to read. This is just the beginning of the long chain of command. I suggested that SLH file a complaint with the Feds. I don't know if they did or not. O'Donnell has lots of ties to Lord and the city of Lakewood. It would not have been difficult to have O'Donnell removed from the case. This is why they are stalling.

For the love of God already, CCF DOES NOT RUN CITY HALL!!!!!!!!!

Bullock fails to achieve anything......again.

He failed to have any influence on an issue that was most important to him---superficiality.

Back on March 3, 2015 he wrote:

"As the mayor has heard me argue repeatedly to the LHA Trustees, in my view it is
of first tier importance, equal to the medical services themselves, that any new Clinic
building be not only high quality, but distinctive, unique, and architecturally convey
the innovation that the proposed plan aims to achieve. Both Google and Apple, in
building new corporate headquarters,
deigned buildings that in both form and
function embody the innovative, inventive culture each organization embodies. If
such a building design costs more, my response is, it's worth it, since we are
contemplating an investment that will last for decades at the heart of Lakewood's
downtown. The right kind of anchor, landmark building and design (which itself is
home to cutting edge health management practices) could generate excitement and
multiply redevelopment value of nearby acreage.
"

From the PeeDee story last month:
Several architectural board members said they would like to see an entrance to the building off Detroit Avenue. However, the architectural firm said it wanted to limit access to the building because of security concerns. Sometimes violence can follow patients into an emergency room so it is best to limit building access, the architectural firm said.

Architectural board members said many residents would walk to the family health center along Detroit or take a bus that stops on Detroit, so they urged the architects to look at ways to incorporate a Detroit Avenue entrance.
So the architectural board wants a Detroit entrance, which makes sense considering the city character. Did the plans submitted two days ago include an entrance on Detroit?

NO.

That's how well CC and their design firm listen to input.

I've been in several CC facilities and they all look the same. Much like their care, it's all cookie-cutter, assembly line style, and one size fits all.

The design they prefer is cold, bland, white, sterile, and devoid of warmth. I always feel like I'm in some spaceship or futuristic world - doors are hidden into walls, no plants, eerie Muzak.

Just google images of CC Twinsburg, Avon, Brunswick, and newer buildings on Main Campus. Hard to tell them apart.
They look amazingly like all the office buildings you see driving along Chagrin or Rockside.

Is this the iconic structure Bullock envisioned? I think he got duped yet again.

Whatever this building ends up looking like, I bet they will nickel and dime you to death like the others. I left CCF a year ago and am receiving much better care from Westshore Physicians. All CCF buildings look like sanatoriums. Family Medicine at CCF is a joke. First, an $85.00 facility fee, then a $365.00 office visit and then a referral to a specialists. Family medicine can't even handle a rash, you have to see a dermatologist. They can't handle simple foot problems, got to go see a podiatrist, etc., etc., etc. The money machine will continue. It appears our city officials and others could benefit from stealing our hospital for a long time. CCF, hail to your Lord, Lord Lakewood!
