Are "Negative" Posts a Good Thing or a Bad Thing?

So back to the definition of "negative" I quoted above, it appears that posts that are aimed at "veto, refusal to accept, to neutralize" etc. of that which is wrong and oppressive are actually a good and positive thing and not "negative" in the pejorative sense.

So, for example, when Mathew Lee claims that the Deck has become 80% hospital posts implying something "negative", it appears that it's largely good and positive

Carry on with the good all you "negative" posters.

I never implied it was "negative". My claim is that it would be nice to split the deck and have all the hospital posts elsewhere. Whether they are "negative" or not is besides the point. If you want to feel that the hospital issue is a good thing for the Deck to be consumed with, that is where we differ. I never even claimed the hospital posts are "negative". What I do claim is that the spirit of the Lakewood General Discussion board, again just in my humble opinion, has been consumed by the hospital issue and has not been as friendly or as useful as it once was.

Again, completely my opinion and certainly respect the rights of those to have differing opinions.

Reading between the lines it seems that "hospital" = "negative."

Going back to what I've said previously, the hospital posts have decreased since the the March primary, but I acknowledge that they will get crazy again in the run up to the November referendum, or if what JOB says comes to pass, sometime this summer. Once the taxpayers get to vote on the hospital deal, it will be over, at least for me - win or lose - and I think the number of posts will reflect that.

But what i really don't get, and Matthew please answer this, is why you simply can't skip over the hospital posts? Most of them are pretty easy to pick out especially for those of us who have been here for awhile.

I do it all the time with other topics. For instance, and I in no way want to disparage the fine work of Mike and Alex, but I have little interest in high school sports. If I have the time, I will read them or look at the photos. If not, I'll just skip them. Why can't you do the same with the hospital posts? And why can't others do the same with national political posts?

But I just looked over the posts here and there wasn't an explicitly 'hospital'-related subject line in the first 20 - at this writing. Lori's real estate post is wider in scope than just the hospital. Many mentioned it - it is the hottest topic in town - but "INTIMIDATION: CCF Police, Mayor, Council Pres., City Officials, BLers, BOE Member, Attorneys, CCF Dr. vs one Deck Post" is pretty far down the list. As I've said repeatedly, there is much less about the hospital on the Deck, at least for now.

You' have indeed hit upon something here. The seems to be a subset of folks "who have been here for awhile" who don't like another subset of folks (regardless of how long they have been here) and they don't like how the "others" post---in other words it is not necessarily the topic they don't like.
